Icon5 Help with straps

Apologies for trying to hijack Ruud's earlier strap thread. I thought better to start my own.
With my Pam came 2 additional straps, a dark brown leather and a black leather as a small gift from DavidSW.
I've noticed that all but the black leather one has metal tubes in the end that attaches to the watch. Both additional straps are Panerai. Do I need to take the metal tubes out of one I'm not using, or does it not matter?
Thanks fellas.

I think metal tubes keep the strap in place. Without the tube straps can sometimes unscrew itself. Not too sure though

I think you are talking about the spring bars. It doesn't matter , all they do is hold straps in place. You can buy them if you want , I never bought ones but I am sure they probably sell packs of 4 under 10 dollars , maybe even less depending on the quality

Yes, they look like spring bars, only hollow. I'm guessing you don't have to use them?

Take the tubes out from the strap, and use them for other straps it's a must.

Tubes are mandatory for screw-in lug models like your 390 (to keep the leather from "grabbing" the screw and turning it) and probably not necessary for other models (but they could help prevent wear on the leather).

you can leave them in or take them out while storing the straps. either way is fine. just make sure you put them back in when you remount them on your watch

the exceptions are the wire lug panerai's or the springbar ones

have a great day

You can buy additional tubes on ebay cheap. That way you won't hav to swap them between straps.

Few things:

1. Don't take tubes out of rubber. Hard to get in and out.
2. Tubes have two reasons.
A. Prevent screws from backing out
B. Preserve straps
3. Be careful of cheap aftermarket tubes. Sand the edges to ensure they don't scratch your case. Some can be roughly cut!
4. I find a toothpick of the right diameter is the best tool to remove/add tubes to tight fitting OEM straps.

Thank you all so much! One final question, my set had everything except for a bezel protector. Can these be bought separately?

If its of any use to you I have this one spare, PM me your address and I will pop it in the post for you.

Sent by craptalk from my iphone 11 which rather annoyingly and randomly rotates my pictures the wrong way around whenever it takes a fancy. I am starting to think its got a mind of its own.

I fitted a new strap to my 111 the other day and I was very proud of myself. The next day I noticed the strap felt odd - there was a lot of movement where it was attached to the bar. Of course I had forgotten to put the tubes in

They really do make a difference.
