AP and 007

Just been reading something similar on the Rolex tread and thought it would be an interesting topic on here, it's a well know fact that AP turned down the opportunity to be on the wrist of a Mr James Bond 007 and be a part of the franchise. Just wondering which model you guys would have liked to have seen him in and which he would be best suited to? I'll kick things off by playing it cool and going for the 15400 ss with black face

bond would wear a 15202... either that or the 48mm legacy

What I think would be cool but however not very ergonomic for 007 would be one of the concept models

if i was guessing i would say probably after the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak End of Days Special Edition came out. AFAIK its the only watch directly tied to a movie. Hopefully the last.

Are there others?

Oh i forgot the terminator one...

I believe it was around 15 years ago, here is a quote from the interview " There was a discussion with Rolex and Omega, and they came to us. We said no, because they were looking for huge promotion around it. Every time there’s a new James Bond, Omega do a lot of advertising for their special watch, a worldwide campaign – and that’s not us. To be in a movie – sure. To do something special – yes. But to run a campaign to say it’s James Bond’s watch – no. Not us."

I personally am glad they said no as I think the exposure would have ruined the exclusivity of owning an AP

the end of days and T3 were late 90's early 2000's... so maybe they were moving past that phase by that point. They did in fact do that with the arnold movies the same way Omega releases a bond watch for a new bond movie. They even increased the production size from end of days to T3 too.

I agree! Do you feel the same with regards to them being specifically designed for sports stars such as the Messi and Lebron editions?

I really like seeing AP's on tv and in movies as its pretty cool as long as there is no co-branding tie-ins to the movie. I really don't like that.

Bill Murray wore an AP in Scrooged in the late 1980's for example and you probably never noticed.

watch Entourage if you like seeing AP. Its worth it just for watch spotting.

those bother me less. I still don't like anything other than AP on my watch though.

The messi edition visually is awesome.

I get that feeling. Of course the bigger watches are going to suit him. During season 2 of Ballers he wore one of the world timer/GMT Richard Mille's, i think he must be the only guy that can pull that watch off!

Lebron is awful IMO, but Messi, Trulli, Schumi and a few others are awesome, but I agree I prefer when no name associated

Only celeb I've seen wearing the Lebron is Scottie from Geordie Shore, which is actually worse than Jersey Shore if you can believe it. Sadly those guys have the best watches, AP, RM and PM Rolex.

He wore an RM? I don't remember that. Usually he is always AP or gold hublot.

While I know the OPs question was a hypothetical one, I'm glad there was no deal done between the Bond producers and AP- particularly seeing the travesty that is "the commander" from omega

I think Bond would wear the Novelty 44mm ROO platinum.

Poor guy he's literally had to sell the shirt off his back to buy an AP.

Thank you AP for not "bonding" with an imaginary person.

Personally I would never buy a "Bond" watch. I think the whole thing is utterly ridiculous.

I hear Donald Duck is looking for a sponsor watch... Omega?

I have the blue Omega SM300, one time a guy sees I have it, starts talking, and tells me that his is the James Bond model, with miniature guns on the dial, I was like "oh yeah cool"

Yeah, buddy!

I mean who wouldn't want a 15202 cluttered with "007" all over the dial?!

And they could make the rotor look like a bullet.

Why not add some "fake" lume patina once AP is at it.

Anyone good at photoshop?
