So my watch is at the RSC now and currently under observation period. Hope it comes back working perfectly! Since it's a new calibre I'm worried if they take to longer to diagnose and fix the problem! Can't wait to have it back!

I know the feeling! My initial Day Date 40 had the problem..as I outlined. Now I have a replacement watch which is fine. The AD kept it under test for a few days, which was a good idea. I was going to say 'all working like clockwork' and then I realised......
It's presumably a simple fix; Rolex know how to make watches. Soon be all over.

The people I spoke to at AD, RSC and rolex India all mentioned rolex never replaces watches. What do you think?

Well done Rolex.

Nice! First time hear that level of service towards a few days old watch.

I hope they decide to replace mine with a new one as well, but it would be troublesome if the replaced watch has the same problem too.
However, here in India chances of getting a replacement is slim as of today.

I got the actual answer from a friend working at R&D at Rolex.

They can't adjust it or it will take away the 70hrs of power reserve.

The day and date change actually uses quite a bit of energy. If they want to make it sharper, power reserve drops to 60hrs ++. So the only way is to make it a progressive change.

He also gave me another answer : "you should be sleeping at that time"

My watch initially changed over at 12:15 AM but after a recent trip to LA (I never adjust my watch's time there), I noticed that it does not change over until 1:15 or 1:30 AM just like others here have mentioned in the past.

I contacted my AD today who had not heard of the issue. Going to bring it in tomorrow to go to the RSC. Will update with how things go.

In the meantime my Sub will have to make do as my solo watch again.

The exact same thing happened to the 2 YG DD's I had. Was ok to start with then didn't change until around 1:30.

RSC here in U.K. are aware and so I believe are Rolex!

Sorry to hear Jason! Hope this works out. Keep us updated.

FYI I noticed mine has been changing at 11:55PM. I doubt that's of any serious issue, but it is strange. It was changing at 12:05-10 consistently for a couple months.

So it’s 12:50am Dec20 2017 right now and I gotta go to sleep...been waiting for 50 minutes for the miracle at midnight and still nothing on my brand new DD40 only about 2 weeks old. Got it at AD Barron and Leeds in South Coast Plaza. They’re gonna get an earful from me tomorrow! And to add insult to injury I just noticed that my 3 year old GMT II (which I’ve seldomly worn) which I bought brand new from another AD Hing Wa Lee jewelers...the date on the cyclops is stuck between 2 dates (19 and 20) right now...WTF??
I’ve never paid attention to the day date switched because it’s always crisp and instant when setting the time...and it’s always accurate when I wake up in the morning....this is my first time trying to see the day date change...seriously disappointed!

Rolex knows about the DD40 dateflip issues and I believe all the newer manufactured movements are all fixed.

All the ones probably made within the first 2 years of release will ALL have this issue and RSC will fix it. Even though Rolex dont make it public because I believe it will seriously damage their brand by not fully testing the 3255 movement they will make it right and fix the issues if your DD40 has a late date change. Rolex should consider themselves very lucky as this could have been a horror PR scenario for them say if this happened on more popular models and more of the public purchased this watch.

But yes totally agree buying a watch that costs more than a car or a deposit on a house and to have these issues is extremely disappointing.

FYI, the early-2017 DD40 here changes at 12:00:08. So yes, simply send your timepiece to service and they'll fix it under warranty.

Wow. I was not aware of this. Has anyone purchased one recently and NOT experienced the issue?
