Next Twist in the Colletion Journey

Hi all, looking for some more thoughts, insights, and opinions from the wonderful members on this forum. Some of you may have read my recent thread about making my DD 18238 my daily or main watch. I can confirm this is what is going to happen. It will be a watch I wear most of the time. The next step now is to look at the my remaining collection.

I have also come to realize I really prefer smaller or traditional sized watches. I have determined I will buy a Rolex datejust 116234, fluted batons on an Oyster bracelet. To do this I must sell one of my Submariners. I own a 114060 Sub C and a 116613 LB ceramic Bluesy.

So this is the question, which one should stay in a collection with a YG DD and a SS Datejust? I am struggling with this one.....as I love them both.

The Sub C was my first Rolex and is more versatile IMO than the Bluesy. The Bluesy though, is a stunning watch and an icon in its own right. Part of me thinks whenever I want to wear something a little special with some gold the DD will always be there, so keep the 114060. Day date and Sub C, the yin and yang, do you really need any other Rolex? Then there is the thought the Bluesy is so beautiful and more rare in the wild, if you are gonna have a sub in your collection that is the one.

So what do you all think. I know it is ultimately up to me. Finances are not a consideration, I purchased both watches well at the right time so I am coming out ahead on either one I sell. First world problems for sure folks but would love to know what you think.

I'd say keep your first Rolex, the simple classic. The Bluesy is a great watch, but the 114060 will never go out of style.

I would say ss dj, tt sub and full gold dd sounds very logical in terms of “progression to gold”.

But if you love the ss sub most, the tt has to go.

Agree, as you have a DJ for the SS, and in my world if 2 of 3 Rolexes are in SS that's a banning offence.

First off, I would never, ever, ever sell a sub for a DJ. Never.

But, if you must, I would keep the bluesy.

I second this, is the option with the most variation. But i would consider jubilee bracelet for DJ, so you'll experience all 3 of them.

If you can't live without the date function, then the Sub has to go (which is even more iconic than the tt Sub Date). Also, since you now prefer smaller sized watches, again, the 114o6o should go. Following your thinking that the need for gold would be satisfied by the DD, it goes the same for SS also, with one of them filling that need. So this would make two SS redundant for you.

What dial.colour would the DJ be? If blue, better not replace any of the 2 Subs.

I believe that once you have a pair of one SS and one YG (or even a tt), you got everything covered. What comes after, is something you could live without, from a logical pov.

You've chosen some great references. Any of them would make a great pair with the DD, but all are fantastic stand alone pieces, which is why it's quite impossible to let one go. I wish you to keep all of them!

P.S. could you please post a pic of the 114o6o and 116613 together?

Sure thing, the two subs posted below. A tough choice. The datejust will be in the configuration pictured as well. Its a tough decision for sure. Part of the key is will the datejust satisfy my very occasional need for a sport watch? Nothing beats the 114060 in that regard. There are also some situations at work where the Bluesy or DD wouldn't be worn but the Sub C or DJ would be fine. I hear you about keeping all of them. Ultimately I could but I just feel 3 Rolex's are my max. I keep going back and forth.
