Precedent setting murder trial

A probably precedent setting trial is currently underway here in Hamilton. The defendant, Johnson Aziga, is on trial for 2 counts of first degree murder for having unprotected sex after having been told he was HIV positive, with women who eventually died of AIDS. He's also been charged with 11 counts of aggravated sexual assault after 5 of another 9 female partners contracted the HIV virus.

Public health officials informed Aziga he was HIV positive back in 1996 and told him he must disclose his status to potential partners. All the sexual liaisons at issue occurred between 2000 and 2003, right up until the morning of his arrest.

Its really sad that Aziga decided against disclosing his health status with his partners. It should be interesting to see the results of this case. Hopefully a good precedent is set as an example to others in Aziga's situation.

Man I need to rethink a few things. Seems I have bored a few women to death while having sex. Guess I will need to hand them a business card with a warning.

That's very disturbing.
One of my son's karate instructors did some medical volunteering in Haiti while in college. She told me that it's actually common there for HIV infected citizens to purposely infect innocent people and rape tourists. They were warned to only go out in groups of three or more in an effort to stay safe.

A graphic example of how death envies life, evil despises good, and seeks to ensnare it. Of course, what can one say about people exposing themselves to the possibilities? But the one who knows he is lethal is decidedly committing murder, not just looking for a partner in vice but a victim.

A football player did the same thing and was in the news for it a little while ago. I'm glad that this is actually going to trial, and I hope they put him away for a long time.
He can't be tried for a death sentence though, so I hope the prison is horrible to him.

A very very nasty crime, it deserves strong punishment as a general deterrant to the whole community and possibly other jurisdictions.

I'm not aware of any previous similar cases Steve, so I think this one could set a precedent.
