Any opinion about the 5140P being phased out?

Personally, I really like the 5140P; especially the dark grey sunburst 017 dial. I was actually seriously thinking about acquiring one, as my FIRST PP. And now, I hear it's on the executioner's list. Is this a good thing or bad thing? I was just wondering what the general consensus is on this model.

Those shrinking digits, PP has to quit that! I swear the 5327 even has that to a point. They can keep the shrunk 5s and 27s, I'll keep my 3940.

That OCD of mine aside, nice watch. I like the 017 as well.

I like the 5140p, and the dark grey sunburst dial had a very short run, but if you’re asking if it will be collectible, I would guess that consensus would be no. With that said, the case size is great and it functioned as a fantastic daily for me (I had he 5140p blue dial).

I saw the 5140P grey a few weeks ago at Tiffany BH. It was very sharp and made me miss mine a little.

Lastly, I only would buy it with a handsome discount.

I think when you sold, the watch was doomed, at least here on TRF, which wields greater influence than we thought after that mighty thread last year.

Patek discontinued the rest of the 5140 series a while ago and kept the dark gray dial 5140P a bit longer due to its shorter production years. It is definitely time to close the 5140 series and its cousin the 5139 IMO.

The dark gray dials do not seem to be as popular as black or blue dials at the moment. But who knows what collectors will value in 20 years.
