What Do You Prefer? Paper or Plastic

Warranty Certificates that is. I like the old style punched certificate myself.

I love the older punched paper certificates also. The newer credit cards are also OK, I thought the most unattractive papers were the 'rainbow' colored versions which came with my Y series Explorer 1.

I've seen a lot of certificates advertised that have the serial number printed rather than punched. Were there ever any authentic certificates that had the serial number printed?

Plastic....and i hope instead of writing it down i hope they can emboss the name to it like a credit card...paying for so much for a watch they shouldn't use hand written cards it looks cheap to me and some of this Rolex reps handwriting are so ugly hahahaha..IMO

Couldn't agree more. A simple inexpensive machine could punch the name on the card very easily and would really make things much more official. Great idea! To whom at Rolex do we submit such ideas.

Does anyone from Rolex read these posts?

In the states punched papers went out sometime in the 80s if memory serves.

My Y S/N was purchased in the UK and is punched. I wonder why they stopped doing it in the US? I would think the punched papers would be less able to to be forged.

Plastic is a bit sharp and not very absorbent, so I prefer paper

Seriously, paper is like a birth certificate, an official document. A card is ID card and although it identifies the watch, it just doesn't have the same historical and general authenticating and validating significance as a document.

As much as I paid for this fine specimen of mechanical genius you would think Rolex would pony up for both! Sheesh!
