Quick Survey re Diver Watches

Just curious. This probably has been posted before. I keep seeing a ton of fandom for the diver watches for all watch lines, but the Sea Dweller and of course the Sub stand out as perennial favorites.

So, do you own a diver watch? Do you dive? Do you use the watch for its function?

Beware, this may lead to a Racing Watch survey and a GMT survery.

Well when I was working as a dive instructor and in my many years diving but now retired owing to ill health.I used SD and the Sub but when the quartz dive watches came in used a Citizen Aqualand 11.That watch gave me far more diving related information than a simple time lapse bezel. And now most use a dive computer but still I would recommend a back up watch. I used mainly my very trusty Citizen for many years as a backup after loosing a SD in the Red Sea.Truth be told would seriously doubt if 85% of all diving type watches, ever see water, other than a quick dip in the sea shower or local swimming pool.

My SD goes down to at least 1200mm every evening in the pool (if I hang my left arm down!) with less than 20% actually diving, what percentage of Sea Dweller owners have ever used Helium?

I usually take a dive trip or two a year and always use my sea dweller as a backup timer for my computer and to time surface intervals.

I don't dive at this point, but I do swim frequently, so the dive watch still comes in handy.

Just got back from the Bahamas, lots of submariners there, including the captain of the dive boat I was on. The dive master had an Omega PO, I wore my Omega SMP on the trip.

I've had my Sub on dive trips before but to be frank I didn't wear my Sub down there because I knew I was going to be diving and I just don't want to risk a $7,500 watch even if it is insured

I had to elaborate because the correct response is not there for me

I had to elaborate because the correct response is not there for me.

I only own diver's watches and use one whenever I dive or snorkel which is as often as possible, but not as much as I would like.

As chairperson for the International Armchair Divers Association, I voted for the second option On a more serious note, why would a diver, owning a dive watch would be afraid to use that watch? Afraid of what?
