I am going on Wed of this week. I will wear my 1970 Red Submariner.

As I recall, many of the reviews were harsh on the original Star Wars... A movie that I just loved and now my son loves.

I went to the movies on Saturday night to see Madagascar 2. The lines fof QoS were pretty impressive....

It's just a movie - go and enjoy it.

Memorable quotes from Casino Royale (2006)
....
(cont'd)
Vesper Lynd: Oh, you are? I like this poker thing. And that makes perfect sense! Since MI6 looks for maladjusted young men, who give little thought to sacrificing others in order to protect queen and country. You know... former SAS types with easy smiles and expensive watches.

[Glances at his wrist]

Vesper Lynd: Rolex?

James Bond: Omega.

Vesper Lynd: Beautiful. Now, having just met you, I wouldn't go as far as calling you a cold-hearted ba$tard...

Source: IMDB
...

Saw the movie. It was okay. Wore my polar EXPY II.

Polar Exp II. Bond needs to get rid of that sissy walther and get a SigSauer (P220 .45, P228/229 .40) or HK (USP or HK45C) .40 or .45, even a plebian glock is better than his current piece YUCK! And get rid of the Omega he bought at Sams Club, get an Explorer II WHITE!

I saw the movie yesterday--they had several recognizable shots of the Plant Ocean, but they didn't have any watch spy gadgets incorporated in it this time. In fact, "Q" did not show up at all in this movie.

Question is: Why have you got 2 parallel threads asking the same question?

That´s only one of the things that went wrong with that movie!

Others are:

the director ( fire him! )

no humor ( what there was too much of it with Roger Moore movies is now sadly missing )

no Gadgets

too few Martinis

"Omega"

...

;-)

Yeah Dell, JJ wants to know why you have two threads going, he's worried you'll start getting close to his post count?

I wore my GMT IIc at opening night in the US ... San Diego's Fashion Valley Mall.

Little disappointed in the movie though. Seemed more like "Bourne Identity" than bond...

I wore my Sub Date. I don't know what all the fuss is about with the negative reviews. The movie was a bit more action packed and explosive than the Bonds from the past, but you may be comparing apples to oranges there. The face of Bond has changed and there will probably NEVER be another Bond classic like Octopussy, From Russia with Love, Diamonds are Forever, etc etc. I liked it and will buy the DVD when it is released. I think that if you sit through the film as a "wanna be critic", then you miss a perfectly good action movie!

Actually, I think I have (had) three:
  • Rolex
  • Omega
  • Open Forum
The idea was, actually, to avoid having them spring up in what I anticipated would be the other two, routing all to Omega. A bit of a lifelong dream I've had (well, maybe not lifelong, but at least back as far as James Bond was signed up for Omega), to get all the watch brands of 007 to come together, in harmony. The skys would open, angels would sing.

Alas, that dream, though not dead, was shattered here. The two did not become one. In fact, we have two separate Threads, moving along separate tracks. Never to meet, it seems.

Oh, heck: Who am I kidding?

JJ is getting to close to the truth, and now I'm busted. Only it's not just to have more actual Posts, but more total Threads! And, after WTF, I'm going to transfer my counts from other Forums as well.

Moo-ha! ha! Moo-ha! ha!

Saw it the weekend and wore my 14060M, As someone who has seen all of the Bonds several times, and has read several of the books, I have nothing but praise for QoS.

It was fast paced (the car chase in the beginning was classic bond), and it tied in nicely with Casino Royale. I also thought the action was excellent-the fighting had an intimate, raw feel that worked really well. In addition many of the action sequences were very artful, such as the Opera sequence. There also was humor as well as one liners, but the humor is more subtle, and Daniel Craig's delivery is very dry. This is probably the closest to the Bond in the books, and closest in spirit to "Dr. No" and "From Russia with Love", as we have seen since those two came out. JMHO.

I had planned on wearing the Omega Gun Barrel LE to the movie on Sunday, but after taking a break from detailing my garage queen, the wife wanted to pick up some lawn fertilizer at the local Home Depot. I just grabbed a watch off the kitchen counter and we jumped in the farm truck. After too much time spent in Gardens, we realized it was getting late so we made a detour to the movie house. Figured if someone really wanted a bag or two of crap they were welcomed to it. So, forgot all about breaking out the Omega, instead watched the movie accessorized with the Daytona.

Main issue with the movie: there wasn't a really decent interesting boss villain or associates. Bond is only as good as his enemies are bad. In this movie, Daniel Craig is more violent and ruthless than the bad guys. All we got was a fat dictator and a whiny business man. Look at the first movie, CR, - we got Le Chiffre- a proper villain with the signature physical defect - in this case, a tear duct that wept blood. Even the Mike Meyers parodies "Austin Powers" know the correct formula - how funny would they have been without Dr. EEvil, Mini Me, Goldmember, or Fat Bastard.

Since the movie theater will be dark and I might want to see the time, I'd better not wear a Rolex.

I wore the Clownmaster when we went to see it.

Well I wore my birthdate 5513...see below. It was its first wearing and I was suitably chuffed to bits. JB was a suitable first outing I thought :)

Majorly dissapointed with Q of S though.. I thought Casino R was totally superb, possibly one of the best Bonds ever taking it to a new level and really thought this guy could be the best bond ever. The film had not had best reviews but went open minded. Thought it was waaaay too fast, the direction and production in the action scenes was really poor....it jumped camera angles every half second and made it hard to watch I thought. The story was too complex for a Bond film and where was the romance?? Still think he has the potential to be the best Bond ever but he needs a better story and director than that....oh well only 2 more years for the next one ;)

I miss the savoir faire of old. The new ones are about all action and camera cuts every two seconds.

I had no watch on my wrist .By happenstance I ended up going to watch the movie with a friend ,so I was not prepared what to wear for this movie or else I would wear my speedmaster.
