Resale value........

Is there a good general rule to follow as far as resale value of late model rolexes? For instance, I just purchased a SS GMT-IIc that had an MSRP for $7,000. If I were to sell it today, (which I wouldn't cuz I love it!) how much would it go for; $5K? So I guess what I am asking what is, is the initial hit 20%, 30%.... and how long in general would it take to break even. I am look for a general rule of thumb here.

It is model dependent.

Some models, 20%
Some models, 30%
Some models, 0%

Although you bought and own an absolutely gorgeous watch, there is nothing about it that is "special" meaning, why would or should it increase in value over the next few years???? The only caveat would be if Rolex suddenly stopped making the watch or it was only released on an extremely limited basis. You own a watch that is extremely popular and yet at the same time, quite availabe and attainable.

My advice to you is just enjoy that "puppy" and don't worry about resale.......you bought the watch to wear 'cause somehow it spoke to you when you saw it. The enjoyment you'll receive from wearing it over time will far outweigh its resale value.
