Beach Daytona

Blowers have one in if anyone is interested!!

Is it just me or does it look like a toy? An expensive toy granted, but cheap all the same.

Are these 'rare'? Is that why you're posting this? I am wondering.

Yes, it does look like a cheap/fake 20$ watch from a far.

They were, as far as I know, a limited edition run a few years back! Never seen one for sale in the UK!

I saw a lady wearing one a couple of weeks ago here in South Florida. What years were they made? Anyone know?

Not too sure about the year, but they don't come cheap.

Made of WG only, they are available in 4 colours - yellow, pink, blue and green with matching same coloured straps.

Quite popular amongst the jet set - like the Paris Hiltons and Victoria Beckhams of the richie rich world!!

I believe it. The lady I saw wearing one was definitely high end. I remember seeing these in the window of a local AD at some point. Maybe 5-6 years ago. Thanks JJ.

My AD recently told me that these Daytonas, which were hugely unpopular when they were launched and were quickly withdrawn, are now being sought by collectors. It's a perverse but not uncommon syndrome with respect to Rolex watches - higher unpopularity leads eventually leads to higher collectibility (just as was the case with the original Milgauss in the 1950s, Daytonas and Explorer 2 in the 1970s). He predicts the same fate will befall the leopard Daytona soon.

I sincerely hope good taste will prevail on the last one. Are there any Leopards in the wild?

Good question - I haven't seen any yet but my AD tells me he's sold two so far this year.

I saw a blue one in a shop in Tokyo recently and it looked good. Not for me; but it looked good.

Nice to see they figured out how to make a Pepsi bezel for the GMT...

Do you think it will be more expensive to replace than the old aluminium insert?

My AD has two of each color when they were out about 5 yrs ago or so and quickly sold them all. They were $19,700 if I remember correctly and white gold.

Yes, they sell quickly believe it or not. I have never seen one in the wild but have seen them 4 or 5 times in the case.
