I wonder if Rolex is doing some kind of subtle experiment with these variants, as even a model as new and precious as the Platinum Daytona has both single tick and double tick versions.

Or maybe it's some sort of internal game...so mischevious.

Latest 116520 (random serial, blue lume) have single tick while new ceramic Daytona has double tick.

Interesting. I got mine a Y serial 2003 black 116520 fullset double tic with

1.thin hands,

2.the sub-dial rings are actually thinner than the newer model as well to fit the thin hands like 16520,

3.more like a grey color less reflective sub dial rings,

4.the silver hour markers are more flat and not as reflective as the newer models,

5.the words and minute markers are super bold and serif.

Overall makes this early 2003 more old school.

The Y ser # white dial with 2 ticks and the skinny hands was bought in November 2003 and the M ser # black dial with 1 tick and the fat hands was bought in March of 2008
