Explorer 16570 P Series Endlinks question

Greetings Fellow forum members! New member here, but not to watches in general.

I've recently decided to purchase my first Rolex, and have got my eye on an Explorer II 16570 Polar. During my search online I came across one that looks great, and has the full kit (box, papers, etc) and is a P series, so it should have the solid end links and drilled lugs (to my understanding). My question is about the solid end links and how they look different from other SEL's I've seen on the Explorer. The watch in question has end links that look like the first attached image (sorry can't post/embed images yet)

While other SEL's I've seen on the 16570 look like the second attached image (image taken from google images)

Coming to my question: Are the end links in the first image also SEL's? I've seen some other P series watches and they have end links that look like the second image.

Also, should a P series watch have the Rolex crown logo engraved into the crystal at the 6 o'clock position?

Thanks for any help that can be provided!

Thanks! Any feedback on the second question? Should the crystal on the P series have the Rolex crown engraved in it?

The crown started around 2001. Look up rolex serial numbers to find approx. date P was made.

P serials ran from around January 2000 till around August 2001, so its possible your watch will not have the LEC.

So I was able to find a Z serial with complete kit which was originally purchased in 2008. The Z serial should have crown in the crystal, correct?

Correct, UNLESS a non-Rolex aftermarket crystal was installed.

Thank you! I confirmed with the seller that it does indeed have the etched crown in the crystal.

. . .
The first image is a through hole lug watch and so comes with end-links without the notch needed to remove them from non-through hole cases.

The second image shows a later case without through holes and needs the notched endlinks in order to remove the bracelet.

Thanks. I should have clarified, what I meant to say was that I've seen P series watches with both types of end links and with drilled lugs, and so wasn't sure if that was normal or not. Guess it doesn't matter anyways, ended up getting a z series instead :-)

"Series" is a misnomer as Rolex doesn't do/change anything based on serial numbers and they released more than one prefix at a time over several years.

Never-the-less, some P serials, and others, may come with either pierced lugs and SEL, and some without pierced lugs.

Having pierced lugs for the classic look, but with the more modern SEL, if you can find it, is a favorite combination of some enthusiasts.
