Trade a vintage Daytona for a Nautilus 5740G
Would you trade a super crisp 6240 for the new Nautilus coming out? They are comparable in price but one is a fairly rare watch (1000-1200) and the other will be in production? What do you guys think is the right move?

5740 will be valued way more the second you walk out the door with it assuming your trade is at MSRP.
If it were me, I would do it. If you decide not to go for it, can I have your allocation? Good luck with your decision. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I love the 5740 but no freaking way!
Have a picture of the 6240 in question? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I would sell everything in my collection except for the 5711 and 5712 to get the 5740. That includes the Daytona if I have one.

Add!
Personally I’d rather have a super crisp 6240.

This raises the interesting points of modern versus vintage and the value of collectibility / rarity. The modern equivalent of the 6240 is the £9k 116500, which objectively is a better watch. So the value of a 6240 is let’s say 90% for collectibility and 10% for the actual watch. I think it’s a very personal decision whether you therefore think that represents a better buy than the 5740.
I think in the short term at least, I’d wait it out a little and see what production and availability is like on the 5740. |

I'd trade that for sure, only a PN would give me pause.

I would do the trade if it was straight. The whole Daytona market is on a bubble and you could get maximum value for a great watch trade.

I'm for the Daytona on this one. Not a big fan of complicating the clean look of the 5711 dial. IMO the 5712 pulls off the best "complication" to the base Nautilus.

Hard to give a wise advisec,D will probably appreciate even if the general wristwatch bubble burst a little ,Nautilus PC well who know how hard to get will be in the long run,if yr D is stellar w all paperworks then i think it s wiser to keep it.

IMO this would be a question if the Patek was discontinued.....you won't be finding that Daytona easily in the future so I'd keep it. Now if you didn't want the Daytona/not loving it and only keeping because it's an expensive vintage relic + you love the 5740....choice is clear.

No way I would trade the Daytona. You have a watch that is no longer made versus a watch that is in production. Easy choice for me.

I'd keep the Daytona and figure out how else to fund the 5740. That'd be an excellent 2-watch collection if others needed to be sold.

Gosh no. A great classic Rolex versus a modern watch still in production. Rolex for the win.

Despite the comments the votes are nearly even... am I the voice of the silent majority... should I be running for President?
