It's been a while and I do apologize........

Been swamped with work so I have been lurking most of the time, thank goodness you guys are a well behaved bunch (with the exception of JJ )

Anyhow, its been far too long since I have picture whored in a post so here we go

First we start with a little number I call "ITS A DAMN WATCH GOOD ENOUGH FOR 100M SO GET OVER YOUR FEARS ALREADY"

Here is a pic from the day I realised that Rolexes tell time too

Family shot

Then of course the worlds greatest watch, one that needs no introduction, the one that makes the SS Sub Date feel like a girls watch on the wrist (runs and ducks for cover)

The mighty SD (my personal fav)

Shaken, not stirred.

That whole shaken, not stirred business is a load of crap. The real question is: Gin or Vodka?

Agree with that, and it must be stirred as well for me. The general rule being that when there are only straight alcohol beverages in the mixed drink, then they should be stirred. If there is a non-alcoholic mixer of any kind in the drink, then it is to be shaken.

Yes, I know the old saying. Rules were made to be broken, but in the case of a proper Martini, well... I think not...

As for Gin VS Vodka... Gin imparts special flavors that mix with the Vermouth to create a classic Martini. You can certainly use Vodka to make a Martini-type beverage, but those all-important flavors are no longer there. Just my $2.25...

And Roger... Very nice photos!

I agree completely. Unless you like couldy Martinis, stirred it is. And if it's Vodka, it's some vodka drink - not a Martini....

I need to get more gin - after a big pitcher of gin and tonic on the weekend, my Bombay Sapphire is running short!

Man Al, we need to do drinks sometime. Seriously!!!

I don't use any other Gin than Bombay Sapphire, and definitely love a good round of Gin & Tonic - The Drink of the British Army!!! And a good Pre-Prohibition Martini of 2 parts Gin and 1 part Vermouth with the added ingredient that makes all the difference - a few drops of Orange Bitters. Not Angostura - that won't work. You MUST use Orange Bitters. Hard to get. I order from New York by phone, but here is their URL: http://www.feebrothers.com/Product.asp?Category=5

And all of this stirred, of course.

Have you ever tried Rum & Tonic with a good squeeze of lime? Oh man! If you thought Gin & Tonic was good, try some Bacardi Ron 8 Años (dark and rich) with some Schweppes Tonic and fresh lime - OH YEAH!!!

Single Malt in the winter, Gin Martini in the summer. The good life!

Rum and tonic, eh?

I have the rum, and the tonic, and the lime......sounds like a plan to me!

I personally like the Appleton Estates rum. I have a smaller bottle of their really dark stuff that is just too good to mix - very nice neat. That and good, dark, Cuban rum are my favourites in the rum family.
