lume question!
so I love my Seiko skx007. I wear the thing all day everyday since getting it.. i just need some reassurance I guess.
the lume doesn't seem to last long at night....for example when I'm night driving its pitch black I can't tell the time on it. when we go out it seems so faint i can barely see it at night. this is my first watch I wish the lume was brighter, if i shine a light on the watch it really glows a ton but doesn't last long. is there something wrong with my watch or am i just over reacting? |

Seiko lume, particularly on this model, is usually pretty good. I don’t recall if it lasts all night, but charged in the sun it looks like it might burn a hole in your arm...
Dan Pierce has more Seiko specific experience than I do, but I think you should be able to have a Seiko dealer get a new dial and hands for it if you think it’ll help. |

The lume is charged better if, as the last poster said, it’s been in the blazing sun all day or if you shine the watch face for a bit under a halogen light.
The lume varies from watch to watch, but Seiko’s lume is among the best. Last edited by Lol-x; 2 October 2018 at 02:29 PM.. Reason: spelling |

Your watch looks good on black leather.

I've got 3 SKX's and the lume is awesome on each......
Just before bed I might charge the lume under a bright light. I then use the lume as a torch. Now initially the lume is super bright, it does steadily diminish but for me it lasts all night. The issue is if your eyes are not adjusted for total darkness then you probably will not be able to see the lume after a couple of hours. However, if your eyes are adjusted for darkness then you will find the lume on the dial and hands to be still very readable. In my personal experience the lume on SKX is more enduring than say Rolex Sea-Dwellers at a price differential that makes the mind boggle. Don't get me wrong I love Rolex for their amazing watches, but Seiko has got infinitely more lume mojo. Another alternative is to buy and keep handy a micro pocket/key ring infra-red (blue) button battery led torch. This will charge your lume (Rolex or Seiko) in 30 seconds flat.

The application levels of lume on the dial dictate how long it will last. They are not all the same but pretty darn close. And some of the best in the business.

Thanks for the replies, I’ve tried the whole wake up and check at night thing still after a few house you can’t see it.
It charges great I’ll attach a photo of it under my jacket hahaha it’s super bright just doesn’t last. As you can see I already scuffed the top of the watch took a while to get use to wearing it and hit a brick wall opening a door hahaha. Now I only take it off before bed. I love this watch! I bought it off eBay from a user that sells to a lot of member on here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
