What's wrong with people.
Go back in time and see what kind of watches were being made by Omega, Rolex, ... in the early 40s/50s. What are you even comparing, a current PO to a Sub? Omega isn't a poor man's Rolex. Buy what you like and who cares what someone else thinks. |

Forgot to congratulate you on your 2 Tudor Pelagos. They are amazing watches, and look forward to your post(s) when you get them. Looked at them many times, and know a couple of guys who own them
Titanium is something Rolex doesn't do at all, and Tudor does it very well. Cheers, Carl

Try not to get so irritated. It’s the Internet. Tudor makes great watches. Rolex makes great watches too. It all comes down to which particular reference you like:watch

About five years ago it seemed most on TRF were calling Tudor the poor man's Rolex, except for Dan Pierce and a couple of other fans (myself included). Then the Black Bay came out, Tudor returned to the US and UK markets, and the turnaround in opinion since then has been phenomenal.

Tudor definitely has some nice models. You can't go wrong and both Rolex and Tudor can co exist.

Oh, and congrats on the Pelagos, OP.
![]() I love the Pelagos. That watch, the BB, and the BBGMT have kind of re-ignited my passion for watches in general. Did I hear you say you were buying two? Which ones? ![]() |

![]() Love my Tudor’s and love my Rolex’s. Both high quality brands. Just added a 58 to my collection. Looking forward to Basel and what both brands will be introducing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Tudor make some great watches that work, look and feel great, just like some Rolex watches.

blue and LHD. Love the uniqueness of the matte dials and the flexibility of the rubber staps. Plus like someone else commented earlier, I had a vintage blue snowflake and a big block chrono and have regretted selling each of them since the minute I boxed them up. Lots of room in my safe for Rolex, Tudor and Omega... |

In the last year I have picked up four watches, a Rolex SS Daytona 500, this was a gift from my wife. I purchased three watches 1. Tudor Bronze Bucherer; 2. Tudor Pelagos LHD; 3. Tudor GMT.
Tudor is not Rolex, many would argue that Tudor is not as pretty. I would argue that Tudor is a much more practical watch with just as good mechanicals and more edgy appearances. I purchase a watch because I like it not to impress others. |

I'm not a huge fan of the brand in general, but if Tudor gets smart, slaps the Harrod's green bezel on a BB58 and lets Americans buy it without jumping through hoops, I'll be happy to throw money their way.

There are plenty that will put down Tudor in the forum, and there are an equal number of Tudor fans that feel the need to get salty about it.

If Rolex made a stainless Submariner that looked like this, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. But they don't, and this Tudor remains one of my absolute favorites.

Whining about the little brother status just reinforces that perspective.

What?...I don’t have a Rolex movement?...It’s a lesser watch?...Can a watchmaker refit a modern in-house movement into my 6263? Why would Rolex use a lesser movement for over 20 years? Help me out here Watch Guy.

Is this where I need to point out Rolex is the poor man’s Patek? Haha
Anyway, I just got my BB58 on bracelet and love it. I’m kicking my LVc to the curb. |

![]() Unless the Rolex was REALLY underpriced, it seems like a strange thing to do considering the price for an equivalent stainless steel Rolex Date 1500 is, generally speaking, double the price of a Tudor Prince Date and the price of a brand new Tudor prince date is $1500-$1600

Rolex founder created Tudor as an alternative affordable watch for the mass. Recently Tudor has step up their game by using own movement. That definitely changed the game and make Tudor as a step up brand. Some even relate them to Omega.

You should definitely stay away from watchuseek. They seem to produce the worst of the worst with Tudor haters. And the forum has 0 class. Can’t even enjoy myself there anymore.

In some ways people referring to Tudors as being the poor person’s Rolex will always be right.
But snobs will always be snobs, and there will always be snobs, but there is absolutely no reason why anyone who likes a Tudor enough to buy one, for any reason at all should give a xxxx what snobs think. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Hans created Tudor so he could sell a watch with Rolex dependability at a more modest price. Not really a poor man's Rolex--but definitely a watch with Rolex characteristics at a lower price point. So, its a great watch, but it was originally designed for those who couldn't afford a Rolex.
