1996 Rolex Submariner questions

Hey guys I have found what I am told is a 1996 rolex submariner No Date. I have been looking all over google and ebay trying to find images of the same watch to compare. I have found one on watchseller.com and it seems to match up. I currently have a newer submariner and it has more writing under the submariner name on the face. I read that they added the extra writing a few year later. What is a fair price for this watch in the condition shown in these few pics that were sent to me. The only one I could find had an asking price of 2850 and the site seemed to be very old. On here there is a member selling the watch for 2750 (pounds). Any help tips or info on this watch would be a great help. I appreciate it and am looking forward to learn some more as I am new!!!!

The guy states its a T serial number, case number 14630 and the band has 93150 stamped on it. Does this all add up???

I would be very careful my friend. As Direction said, those pics aren't very telling. Stick around and you'll learn plenty on here. TRF is a great resource if your looking.

Case number 14630 makes no sense to me.

The case has two numbers engraved on it.

1) between the 6 o'clock lugs is the watch's unique serial #. For this watch it will be "T" followed by 6 numerals, "T######"

2) between the 12 o'clock lugs is the watch's model #. For this watch it should be 14060

What's it worth? Hard to tell without knowing the full history. I wouldn't pay more than $2500 for it.

Blow up the side shot...it looked like you had no lug holes from the smaller pic.

He told me the entire serial number T with all the numbers.
This is what he told me in the email "Case Reference Number 14630.
The band has 93150 stamped on it."

Case reference # 14360 makes no sense. Note how it is very similar to the model #, 14060.

He either made a typo or the the watch does have "14360" engraved on it somewhere, thus making it a fake.

Thanks Rocco, so if this watch is a 14060, does it have the Calibre:3130 or is that on the 14060M? I didnt know if there was a difference!

Think I found it the 14060 had the 3000 movement or old movement and the new one has the 3135???

You're correct...the 14060M has the 3130 movement. They appended the "M" when they stuck the 3130 in it.

The 14060M came around in the late 1990s.

The reference 14060 has the 3000 caliber. Your T serial is definitely a 14060.

As I said before, I would not pay more than $2500 for it. From the looks of the bracelet, it looks like it's seen some wear. That makes me believe that it might be due for service.

I'd be content paying $2300 for it and then immediately sending it to Rolex for a $500 service.

The 3135 has a date function.

The 3130 is correct for the 14060M. The 3130 is also found in the Explorer and Oyster Perpetual. Quite a workhorse movement for Rolex.

Happy to help.

Here's my learned advice...unless you can get some better pictures, walk away. Although the watch looks ok in the crappy pictures the seller provided, one can never be sure.

He'll probably tell you that he does not have the ability to take better pics. Ask him to find the macro function on his camera (the setting with the flower).

If he still can't provide decent pics, walk. This watch is too common and easy enough to find for you to take a risk on this one.

Good luck. Keep us posted.
