Looking for a casual alternative to a 5167 or Nautilus? Which of these two is better suited for casual wear? I know neither is waterproof, but was planning on wearing with business causal attire and possibly shorts and a nice t-shirt.

Do either of these work for that purpose, and if so, which is better suited for it?

I prefer the 5296G. Love the blued hands.

I had fell in love with the 5296g-001 because it could dress up and still look great with shorts and a tee shirt.

I prefer the 6006. A change of strap with a pop of color changes the watch significantly

6006G for me as well! I am every now an then tempted to get the original 5000G as I don't mind small dress watches in the 33-35mm size bracket. Sector dial 5296G strikes me as combination of a modern case and a retro dial, not for me...

6006G but I think I prefer a simple 5296G on a casual leaning strap.

For me the 5296 is more elegant and versatile. I’m not a 6006 fan.

I had the 6006 and spent more time looking at the watch to actually figure out the time. I genuinely found it a frustrating watch, there is something about the size and the shape of the hands that are not intuitive to my mind. I sold the watch and I got the 5196 which I love.

I think the 6006g can be dressed up and down. Throw on a black nato and you're good to go for casual Friday.

Is there some function for the sector dial? To me, it looks like it should provide some function but if it does, I don't know what it is. If it doesn't, it seems unnecessarily busy.

They originate sometime in the late 1920s or early 1930s and can be traced to two applications – officers watches for the military and scientific watches for laboratory use. The markers in one minute increments and differentiated sectors allowed for more precise timekeeping when recording in shorter periods.

PP ref 96, the first Calatrava reference, had a sector dial version which they stayed pretty true to.
