Hello from the UK

I thought I'd introduce myself, having lurked for a while. I'm new to the forum, but a life long lover of watches, and over the last few years something of an Omega fan.

I've had 1968 Constellation for a couple of years, and prize it highly. I added a Speedmaster Day Date 3520.50 last year, and more recently have been thinking about entering the world of Rolex. I really fancy a Sea Dweller, but the price is just too scary for me at present. Eventually I decided to shelve that idea for a while, and have just purchased a SMP 2254.50.

The trigger between lurking and posting was the "sticky" thread about adjusting the bracelet, which had been annoying me for a while, but I didn't feel inclined to go back to the AD. I've now adjusted it as per the instructions. I'm still inclined to think it's either too loose or too tight depending if the half link is in place, but it's certainly a solid bracelet that the watch feels very safe on.

Secondly I read the thread about the discontinuation of the 2254.50 with great interest. I had suspected it was on the way out since it had disappeared from the Omega website, but when I asked the AD if this was the case, he insisted it wasn't. I love it either way and I'm pleased to have picked one up before they disappear.

Finally just to add, it's great to find a community of similarly minded people, and I'm already enjoying reading loads, and learning a lot. Many thanks for all those who have shared their knowledge.

Welcome

I hope you enjoy the forums and although there is nothing whatsoever wrong with Omegas, I do hope that you may get that Sea-Dweller one day.

There are lots of interesting posts/threads on this forum to wet your appetite

It is always more fun to participate

One thing is if you get that Sea-Dweller you can say to yourself, that you didn't spend the money, but you just relocated it, as the re-sale would be very good. Even better if you can get a good as new SD from a quality seller, that can make the entry price even more attractive.

and don't be a .......(joking)

welcome & enojy.
Hope you get your SD one day.

have a speedy date myself, and found its bracelet is much more comfortable than the oyster bracelet on the LV.

omegas are awesome timepieces - enjoy.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I do like the idea of relocating some money into a Sea Dweller as an alternative to spending it :-)
