Switzerland
Well, after a long talk with significant other, it looks like a trip to Switzerland is in the works for later this year. Now, I have a MILLION questions, some of which might be answered by you.
-Where to stay? -MUST do's while there? So far, I only know to a) take the watchmaker's tour and b) visit all stores lake-front @ Geneve thank you in advance for your comments! |

Gerrardo, over on panereh.com a prominent member, Nad, just came back from Switzerland. I'm sure he'd be happy to help if you made a post over there.

I was born in Switzerland, and we came to Australia when I was about 3, and I always love going back.
The last time I was there was in 2001, so I'll see what I remember from my trip! I'm a bit fuzzy on exact names and details, but I'm happy to do what I can. Which regions are you heading to? Lucern in general is a lovely city to visit, they have the bridge etc there which is nice. Also if you head south from there, towards the Gotthard Pass, there is the 'Tell's Chapel' with some lovely frescos, near Sisikon, which is (if i remember correctly) located in the rock face on the Vierwaldstättersee (or Lake Lucerne if you prefer). That is really worth seeing. From there you could head south towards Canton Ticino, which is the Italian part of Switzerland. It's worth spending time there, towns like Brissago, Lugano etc are great, and a boat trip to the Isole di Brissago is also well worth it. Zurich is also great, there's a fantastic old commisarriat type 'store' thats converted into a restaurant, called the....hmm... Zeughauskeller or somthing...can't remeber...bugger it. I'll look it up. Great swiss food! The lakes around zurich are nice too, a place called 'Stein am Rhein' is a little medieval village. Also, if you're in Schaffhausen, check out a town called Neuhausen, and the waterfall there called the 'Rheinfall'. Nice little town and nice waterfall. Hmm.... I'm sure there's more, but I won't bombard you now. Please PM or email me, and I'd be happy to suggest any more places or things. It is just an amazing country! Enjoy your trip!
