Advice on first AP
It was a long and difficult year, but prosperous year for me. I want to mark it with a new watch. So far only a Sub I bought when 18, and a gmt purchased a few years back in my collection.
I was planning on keeping it around $10k and just go with a Big Pilot, which I've always loved. But then I found myself at an AP dealer when in Vegas, and then again in Paris. They had a 15500 blue and grey dials (sold, but kind enough to let me try them on), a diver, and a titanium 44 ROO chrono. I have a 7.5 inch wrist, so I do like big watches. The Chrono really appealed to me, as did the grey dial 15500. What's the likelihood of getting a 15500 from a dealer anytime soon? How long would I realistically be looking at. And then the 44mm Titanium (i'd get used) and the 44mm SS chrono (love to contrasting sub dials)...good idea for a first AP, or do owners find they tire of them pretty quickly? Love the look and fit, but they do seem somewhat like a novelty...whereas the 15500 is as classic as classic gets. If I did go used 44mm...would I be doing well at 22k? Thank you in advance! |
