Winding box-yes or no?
As the title says, what do you think?
And why? |

No. Unless you have a perpetual calendar.

If you use a winder you would probably set the correct time when you wear it so why not just let it run down and kick it into life at the same time with a few turns.
No need for a full wind, your wrist will do that.

I have a Heiden quad winder that sits in the closet unused and has been unused for months, after speaking with the fine gents here i figure why cause stress on watches when not wearing and none of my watches have complications so they are easy to set and wind.

Part of the fun of these watches is winding, and setting the time and interfacing with your watch. No to a winder.

Have a 12 watch Wolf and only have two turned on, my SD43 and DeepSea, because I rotate them often but not often enough to keep wound. Personal preference but keeping pieces on winders full time definitely accelerates wear. Just a fact.

Discussed MANY times... it's a no.

I would say no to a winder. I rotate between a few watches, but have been also rotating in an Apple Watch 4. I just feeling like I get enjoyment out of setting the time and giving the crown a couple spins and watching my watch come back to life.

You’ll do more damage continually unscrewing the crown to wind it so I’d use a winder

I have a 2 watch Wolf and use it for my annual calendar. Otherwise I agree with most here that winding is fun

Like mine. Like watching them spin. My wife thinks I'm crazy.
Good deal! PS. Except for Speedy - he's a hand winder only! |

Mine is more of a display case, but I do keep my Cellini moonphase winding.

I have but use them infrequently. I mostly enjoy giving my watches a manual wind to start. (except setting date on 4-digit pieces with non-quick date setting: takes forever!!!!)

I use winders. I am change watches often and I don’t like spending time setting them.

I rotate watches so I use winders. Besides, the moon phase is a pain to set. The ones that I wear are all on winders.

Why?
Even with frequent rotation, it doesn’t take a minute to set the time and date and wind the watch. Aside from that, when on a winder, the watch is getting wear despite being not used, so it’s unnecessary. |

A winder is great if you have some complicated moonphase watch that you don't want to re-set. If not I don't really see the point, apart perhaps for display purposes as Gsurg has kindly demonstrated.
