I started this watch game falling to the brand power of the crown. Sometimes you just need to realise there’s a whole wide world out there.

Will now be my go to, almost my gada, the times when a little bit of panache is needed.

Next step will defo be the day date however , which will hopefully position me well for the Daytona and then I’m done
Congratulations. Such a great watch

Very nice congratulations. I mentioned up thread that my husband just purchased the TT model. He likes it so much, enough that he plans to get the steel version soon. Again congrats it’s so nice.

There are two Cartier AD’s near us in Florida. Last week neither had the steel version in stock. They sell very quickly.

Have any of you been able to order leather straps for your Santos from Cartier recently?

I bought my Santos from a local AD last year. I wanted to order some alligator straps for my Santos, but my AD couldn't get them from Cartier and they told me to try visiting a Cartier boutique to order the straps.

So I made an appointment at the nearest Cartier boutique here (which is not close to me at all) and only to be told that their straps ordering system was down and had been down for a while. She told me to go to another Cartier AD in the same shopping mall and told me that they should be able to order the straps for me. The gentleman at that Cartier AD was shocked that the Cartier boutique would send customer over to them to order watch straps, because they would have to contact Cartier to order them anyway. Nonetheless, he walked me through the different leathers and colors available and told me that he would contact me once the order is confirmed by Cartier. A week later, he emailed me saying that he couldn't order the straps either because Cartier told him that the watch straps are all discontinued (which is obviously not true because they are still being bundled with new watches).

What's going on? They put this QuickSwitch system on the Santos and yet they made it impossible to buy watch straps to take advantage of this system. To make matter worse, having the QuickSwitch system means none of the watch straps with regular spring bars would fit onto the Santos.

I purchased a pair of straps from Delugs last year and I have to say the quality of their straps sucks. Quality issue aside, they are no longer selling straps for the Santos because Cartier threaten to sue them, so they are not an option anymore.

When do you guys get the leather straps for your Santos?

My second Cartier Santos, it's smoky green but it's very hard to capture green in the picture.

It looks more like grey to black, only certain angle that you can see as smoky green.

Anyone have one of the earlier models, such as a Galbée? Love the whole concept of the watch, but the current medium is a bit larger than I’d like. And, I prefer a square face.

Thank you! I went to three Cartier stores in Bangkok. Two of them ran out of stock but a boutique at a lower traffic mall had both medium and large models in stock. It seems like people are not yet aware that the green dials are out since the stores don’t put them on display and the Cartier Thailand website doesn’t show them.

Thank you! It took me nearly half an hour to decide between a medium and a large model. I’ve always had larger watches despite having a 5.7” wrist. So, I wasn’t used to seeing a smaller watch on myself. I ended up with a medium for a more classic looks (although the classic white dial seemed to wear bigger than the green).

Thanks, I think medium size is perfect for your wrist, to me I think Cartier looks better with smaller size. I have 6.6" wrist, I bought 2 of them (one YG and one SS) in medium size within one month.

Congrats on the new green dials everyone! I was actually offered one but passed after I tried it on it just felt a little too small on my wrist. I was absolutely wowed by the dial but the overall look on my wrist personally fell flat so I passed. Really wanted to love it.

For the medium or large? The large wears pretty big IMO

I recently had Cartier restore this. I actually am wearing it far more than I thought I would. It was my dad’s daily, so it means the world to me.

Funny enough, this watch gets by far the most comments/compliments of my entire collection. I believe most in this shape were quartz, but this one is automatic. I know my dad purchased it through a friends AD in Hong Kong in the 80s.

Wow, I love this octagonal shape Cartier very much, it looks gorgeous. What is the size of this watch?

It was the large. I just felt like it accentuated the extra “pudge” in my forearms currently and didn’t look sporty or flattering on me. (need to get back to working out; extra stress at work and been gaining weight. This watch really pointed it out in the worst way). Such a bummer because I wanted to love it!

That's a great watch! Such a great reminder of your dad. I've rarely seen them as an automatic. Most times I've seen the smaller quartz ladies model. While square is the classic shape for a Santos, I'd love to see Cartier bring out a new modern version of the octagonal Santos and the round Santos.

Thank you so much for the kind words. I am not sure of the size. It’s small though. Maybe 32? I will try to pull up the service receipt, but maybe another knowledagnle forum member will reply.

Thanks so much. My mom has the smaller octagonal watch. I’m pretty sure it is automatic too. It was her daily until she bought a used Rolex OP. I’ll try to get a family photo, ha.

Love it! How long did Carter take to restore? What did they charge to restore and lastly what exactly did they restore?

I wonder if the green dials are different in Asia, I just grabbed one here in Malaysia on holiday and I have zero hint of greys, silvers that others elude to. Mine has an incredible sunburst green that looks dark green in the shade and a dynamic bright green in the sun, I would argue the best green dial I have ever seen. Helps getting it below MSRP and no sales tax :)

Congrats B looks great! And yes dial appears by your photos to be a bit different shade of green, but lighting is always such a factor it would be interesting to know if they are in fact different.

Congrats! It can definitely be a bit camera shy, the green strap tends to bring the dial out and without the AD spotlights. Enjoy it, I am going next Monday to order a few straps, I love the new black rubber strap they came out with that I anticipate will pair well and along with a tan calf.
