Here's my take on the anniversary engraving. Three words: Ford Super Duty

All these negative views and no one has even seen one in the flesh! Bizarre! I'm looking forward to seeing what I expect to be an absolutely stunning watch.

to be honest. I really had it with all those negative comments I you don't like it, stop complaining and look at another watch Should I laugh at every stupid watch between 36 and 38 mm ? I have a bigger wrist and wear bigger watches, I could bash EVERY Calatrava But I don't I enjoy seeing them but they are just not my style ( not for my wrist)

Hard to argue with Ferrari and Porsche! I think the font is also an interesting part of the discussion.

Perhaps its the relative proportions. What if PP did the engraving in smaller fonts and at the bottom of the dial? I think people can live with that.

So funny trying to make a point on a Patek watch to a car LOL.
If that's how to best way explain this hideous thing Patek has done, that's pretty desperate. |

One of the problem is not with the date imprint but how the imprint are located on a pure, beautiful and simplicity watch that has already settled and cultivated into the minds of the 5711 lovers. Maybe as I get older, too much changes I cannot take it.
I also think that voicing a POV whether positive or not, concerns or suggesting ideas how the 40th could be improved is perfectly normal and also enlightening. It is a forum after all, where people express their views. I do look forward to see it in flesh at a grey dealer. Have a nice day gentlemen. |

You are obviously not reading the thread - can't blame you as you clearly don't like the watches. It was one of your fellow haters that used the car example and I have simply sought to demonstrate that de-bossed writing is used on many cars both great and not so. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

It will be interesting to see. I believe it is being factory allocated? Presumably it will need an allocated client to take a bath for the grey market to have it on offer? - or perhaps I am being naive! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I have to agree this bashing of these 40th pieces is getting boring, if you don't like it say it once pass on your allocation if you are lucky to be in the game for one and move on... If I had the funds and opportunity I would be all over that 5711P... For now I'll enjoy my 5131R |

Me thinks too many egos will be bruised when they don't get offered an allocation. Rather play either you are guaranteed an allocation by your AD one and passed (which we know is crap as they only recommend not allocate) or go one about the wrong path, QC issues, I sold my whole PP collection and now only have Rolex and Oris, long service times Yawn Yawn anc then spend all their efforts on the PP thread! |

THIS particular watch, I don't like at all--you are correct. Good news is I stand in good company on that as most don't either. |

For this to be apples to apples the imprint would have to cover the entire hood. |

As the author of the car analogy, I will say that if we cannot discuss design aesthetics and occasionally depart from straight watch-dial comparisons (using other product design to provoke exploration and discussion of design choices), then we will be reduced to a bunch of cheerleaders with penalties for those who don't fall in line.
I love PP, and I love the Nautilus, but I don't love the engraving and was struggling to understand why it bothers me as much as it does. I'm glad some on TRF were inspired to look for recessed logos on Ferraris and Porsches -- this makes a discussion board fun, and it is very much on-topic for this thread (reactions to the new editions). I also think the comment about "apples to apples comparison would have had to cover the entire hood..." is apropos to the exploration of the way the anniversary design hits people (good or bad). |

Wow too bad our poll was removed because of an AD panicking because of their honest answer.
Oh well...so seems to go the world today. Cover-up's . |
