The blue dial is quite dark and matte; not the sunburst that is so popular, but I think the subdued tone will help to keep the watch under the radar.
Look’s perfect on your wrist! Congratulations!

Looks really nice, congratulations! The bracelet has micro adjustment capability. I think about 2-3 mm on each side. Maybe you can try to remove 1 more link and pull out the micro adjustment on both sides to see if you can get the right fit.

I don't have one but I do have several other straps from Delugs. Very reputable company as far as I am concerned.

Thanks, yes Delugs was one of the options, but wondering if there are any other good options out there. Searching internet I've found a company named Helvetus. I understand it's Swiss company producing straps - they have a strap which is 3 times cheaper than Delugs. Anyone have experience using their straps?

I would highly recommend Vagenari. They make good quality straps.

Any in here who has both an overseas and a royal oak, would you mind comparing the two? If you could have only one, which one would it be? Currently in this fantastic predicament.

i have both. both are different watches (15500st and 7900v)
Royal Oak bracelet is a clear winner and the polished is very sharp

VC overseas i have is the version with the older bracelet, the newer tapered bracelet should wear better.
my overseas is on rubber strap permanently.
VC overseas is more versatile with 3 strap options

for me, they are both very different watches. good to have them both..

if i do have to choose one, i will go with Royal Oak because of the entire look.

Need a quick sanity check for 3rd gen VCO owners. Assuming you purchased from VC or a AD, how many links did your respective bracelet come with?

Thanks in advance

I have a 7900v and a 16202.

Agree mostly with trackingtime‘s comments above.

To me, the VC is really more of a sports / GADA watch (as much as a holy trinity can ever be truly GADA). 150m water resistance, so truly swimmmable. Can be dressed up and down from alligator to bracelet to rubber strap. And doesn’t get the recognition of a RO so probably quite a bit safer in most places. Finally, dual time is such a cool complication, not available on any contemporary RO right now.

The Jumbo is obviously the OG of the genre, and the 39mm is just the perfect proportion. Doesn’t get any better. But in reality the 16202 is to me much more of a dress watch, already for the amazing bracelet (Genta was a jewelry designer after all). I’m truly in love.

Finally, value retention. The VC has dropped a bit from retail, on the Jumbo bought at retail I could make a lot of money right now.

I truly hope I will never have to sell any of the two, the choice would be hard. Between my first ever holy trinity GADA watch on one hand and breathtaking watch grail perfectionism on the other, what do you pick?

Hey Jay, how are you?

Excluding the end links and clasp, my 7900V comes with 17 links. That’s 12x 20mm links, 2x 20.2-21.4mm, 2x 21.4-22.6mm, plus a 20mm half link.

I have a small 6.5” wrist, so that’s more than enough for me. But anyone with 7.75” or greater wrist, they might need to add links. I thought it’s a big strange that the watch is designed for larger wrists but they are so stingy on the links.

Hope this is helpful.

I have an AP 16202. I also have a VC 4500V and recently purchased the 4520V for the tapered bracelet and thinner case.

I agree with everything that’s already been said above about the differences.

I will add that the Overseas is far more comfortable to wear than the 16202. The bracelet links on the 16202 have sharper edges that can “cut” into your wrist when you are resting your hand on hard surfaces. The Overseas bracelet links have smoother edges that wear more comfortably. The Overseas bracelet also has the micro-adjustments, while the 16202 does not.

The 16202 is beautiful and iconic. But it also is very flashy and not always what I want to wear while out and about.

The Overseas is more discreet, which I find to be a plus. It is the ultimate, everyday companion piece — quiet, beautiful, luxurious, sporty, versatile and comfortable. I can wear it anywhere while doing anything. I can forget that it’s there as I go about my busy day, but also stop to admire its beauty when I have a moment of quiet reflection. There is something profoundly gratifying about that.

Has it been 4 years already? I know the day you added it to your collection and you broke the gram!

Curious to get some advice - I'm very keen on a rose gold Master Geographic, but the VC Overseas Dual Time "Deep Stream" really caught my eye. It fundamentally appears to be a JLC dual time ébauche without the time zone wheel, and VC presumably added their own rotor and perhaps some finishing.

Does anyone have experience with this deep stream model?

While the watch is a beauty, I feel like a retrograde/moonphase complications are too formal for a sports watch.
But at the same time, i wouldn't hesitate to get one if given the means and opportunity!

Assuming you are able to cover the extra cost, I would highly recommend the moonphase. While the 4500v is amazing and a beautiful watch, it is a “simple” watch. The thing that I really like about the 4000v is that it is a signature complication from VC in a sports watch package.

I’ll take the other side. The best feature of the blue dial is, well, the blue dial. The 3 hander shows it off the best. Plus, I personally prefer to see some movement on a dial. The sweeping seconds hand covers that where the moonphase does not. YMMV.

Agree. And even though it is a sport watch in style, nobody is sporting in these. So the complication combined with the leather strap options really make it so versatile.
