I do not believe that the zirconium oxide/yttrium oxide mix AP uses is cheaper than steel, in terms of raw materials. In either case, raw materials costs are negligible wrt the price of the finished item, in particular given the extra effort ceramic requires. The AP CE watches I tried (e.g. 15416) didn't feel cheap to me

Nobody does ceramic like AP IMO. You need both in the collection.

My understanding is one of the releases will be a ceramic ROC.

Ya, photos of 15510 series had been shown to the VIPs during the 1st round of RO 50th announcement.

It will be great if they added AP logo @ 6... it will turn out like some modern interpretation of Jumbo... bigger size, modern 3D Audemars Piguet logo instead of printed one, seconds hand...

I was told from an AP SA couple years ago that they are going towards cleaner dials, first with removal of "Automatic" then and now the AP logo (opposite for ROOs with only AP logo). I didn't really believe him at the time but here we are today.

I doubt they will go back and add the AP logo any time soon.

No yellow gold?

I need a 15510BA with white/silver or green dial.

That green RO is hot af - AP knocked it out of the park if that does hit the shelves (metaphorically, because it will never actually sit on one!).

Oh yes, a watch with a green dial. So creative and unique. Never seen that before.

Hope they not only release a ceramic chrono in 41mm but also in 38mm. Grey ceramic like the Omega GSOTM would be nice:)

this all seems a bit haphazard; leaking watches left and right, promising big things for certain dates and then radio silence. If there's a strategy, I'm not sure it has been communicated very clearly to the boutiques either, who on occasion seemed genuinely surprised by some of the silent reveals.

That would be first for a 41mm RO, IIRC. Would be hot, but I suspect they will continue the recent trend and reserve YG for very limited occasions.

Tell me about it.

Been waiting years for a 41mm RO in yellow gold and white dial for that 80s & 90s gold watch look.

That new green dial would also look amazing with yellow gold.

The Japan limited edition 15503BC is also something else.

Was anyone actually told by a boutique to expect an April announcement? I had heard July was the next planned announcement back in February and July was reiterated again in March when I went in for my 15500.

From revolutionwatch.com, Jan 27:
" Important to remember that this is only the start of the celebration, the next big date that Friedman and Audemars Piguet’s CEO, François-Henry Bennahmias kept eluding to during the presentation was that of the 15th of April 2022."

So much for that.

Yeah I come back to this. Either a genuine miss communication between AP and Wei Koh, or a delay on AP’s end. Out of both unlikely scenarios, I think the latter is most likely.

They do use yellow gold a lot with the jumbo. Just wish they would also with the 41mm RO.

Seems to be working for me - not seeing updates on my side.

I did see an earlier social post on IG today from them where they were talking about the RO design process back when it first was released…. It seems to be deleted now. Wondering if they are saving the daily post for something else??

Makes me think you’re right that something is in the works… just not up yet?
