Safe deposit box, no doubt.
If all else fails, it goes in a nondescript cardboard box marked "Xmas Lights", in the basement crawlspace or attic. |

I once read a tip in a Disney Parks guide book to stop people from stealing your stroller when it's parked, tie a used diaper to the handle...

Well I know my AD fairly well and if I had a problem like that I would ask Greg or Luke if they would kindly give my Rolex a holiday in their safe. Just like the guy who left his Ferrarri at the bank as security for a small loan - cheapest secure parking available while he went on holiday.

Mail it to yourself, insured for the full value. Let the post office hang onto it until you get back.

short of being really creative around your house, like finding hollows in the walls or ceilings, electrical outlets, duct work etc. your best bet is a safety deposit box. a good burglar knows all the obvious tricks, and will find those watches in seconds. view a few episodes of discovery channel's "it takes a thief". here's a link:

Misdirection is the key
Lived in a pretty "rough" area during the "after college" years but learned some tricks...put it/them in a ziploc bag, or condom, and hide in a
Jar of: Mayo, mustard, peanut butter, etc... Box of cereal, laundry detergent, bag of sugar or flour, anything that sits in plain sight and would not be worth stealing...you get the idea. Works for cash and other jelewry as well. |

Pull your refridgerator out from the wall, on the back bottom there is usually a lot of space to put some small things.
FWIW, I pay $80 a year for a safe deposit box. ~Scott

Go to the bank and put the watches in a safe deposit box. They are like 100 bucks a year and its worth it. I only keep two watches at a time at home. One stays hidden in the attic and the other on my wrist. When I need a change I go to the safe deposit box on my lunch break...

I usually ask my friend Elvis to keep my watches in the pockets of his jumpsuit. If he is busy I ask my other friend Napoleon to keep them inside his tunic. That`s why you will often see him with his hand inside his overcoat. Must go now as nurse is coming round with my medication.

If you opt against storing it off-site, remember:
#1 - make sure you are completely sober before you hide it. #2 - leave word with a close relative (that is in good physical, mental, and financial condition) as to where it is located in case you die during your trip and want to leave the watch to someone besides the next tenant or a homeless guy (if they give your clothes away and it is hidden in your coat pocket) |

No harm done...3 weeks for a watch not worn is not that long..it can stand years of idle...

Put a bottle of wine and a $100 bill on the table. Leave a note telling thief all the valuables are secured offsite, so take the wine and $100 and leave without hurting anything.

Here is a cheap way to pay for securing them. Leave them in the glove box of your Ferrari.
Bank Loan A man walks into a bank in New York City and asks for the loan officer. He tells the loan officer that he is going to Taiwan on business for two weeks and needs to borrow $5,000. The bank officer tells him that the bank will need some form of security for the loan, so the man hands over the keys to a new Ferrari parked on the street in front of the bank. He produces the title and everything checks out. The loan officer agrees to accept the car as collateral for the loan. The bank's president and its officers all enjoy a good laugh at the man for using a $250,000 Ferrari as collateral against a $5,000 loan. An employee of the bank then drives the Ferrari into the bank's underground garage and parks it there. Two weeks later, the man returns, repays the $5,000 and the interest, which comes to $15.41. The loan officer says, "Sir, we are very happy to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a little puzzled. While you were away, we checked you out and found that you are a multi-millionaire. What puzzles us is, why would you bother to borrow $5,000?" The man replies: "Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only $15.41 and expect it to be there when I return?"

Seriously, I cannot tell you wear I hide them, then everyone would know my good places.
Remember Christmas Vacation, where he is locked in the attic, and hides his present only to find one about 20 years old. Been there, done that

You might think of leaving the watch with a friend. If you put your Rolex in an old jacket and something happens to you on the trip, your Rolex will end up at the Goodwill store.
