Perhaps these links will help in assessing these two watches. In my opinion they both carry the PP DNA and with their case, lug and hands design make a perfect pairing.

I bought its partner, the 5172G which is only 1mm wider but looks a lot bigger on the wrist in comparison. The 5172G is design similarly loaded with PP heritage and reflects the classic face designs of old. It is not a self winder which means, unlike the 5320G does not have to be left on a winder. The mechanism is complex and beautiful to admire but most of the time one doesn’t look at it.

Now I tend to wear them on alternate days.

My advice for what it’s worth - buy either one and start saving for the other!
My exact thought

Wanted to renew the thread and get input of 5320G vs 5172G, especially of those that own both in terms of comfort and wear and if it was your only Patek in your collection. Thanks

I'm a great fan of the 5172G, it gathers all the modern and classical aspects of traditional watches.

Getting a manual caliber is of course a big ++ for the 5172. The case and buttons looks fantastic.

Even if the case of the 5320 is similar (same family) the dial is very different. It is subjective and comes to your own tastes. Maybe, you need a little more time to choose that's all. More importantly, the real experience is mandatory (vs photos). And a QP from Patek (like a chrono) is something huge.

We all have a preference for aesthetics vs mechanics, this is personal.

Take your time and I'm sure you will come with a more reliable decision (go and see them again and again if needed).

Funny, these 2 are the references I had let my AD know were on my list for of non-sport Pateks I would like next as well. The 5320g is gone now, hope there is a similar replacement as I have no calendar in the collection yet.

I tried both and have chosen 5320G
About strap: 5172 strap is getting old quickly, 5320 brown strap is replaced by mint blue one. Winner
About back case: if you like the back and look at it all day, A Lange will be better.
Try on wrist and follow your heart

Is this the original strap for the 5172G? They are same size with 5320G. How long did the order arrive?

You could probably put any color strap or material on the 5320. The cream dial/ white metal goes with everything. I think blue is neat as it picks up the moon phase blue. Black would make it a more formal watch which is fine too.

I think it is that same strap.

I asked my AD to order some blue straps for me.

One was Matte Navy Blue Gator and the other one (pictured) was a Navy Blue Sueded Calf.

I would go with the 5320G. I think the PC is a far more useful complication than a dress chronograph with only a thirty-minute counter.
