I wear one any time I may need to know the time. Showering and sleeping don't fall into that category. And I have 8 watches from Gshock to Rolex and wear whatever suits the day.

I also do not wear a white dress shirt to change my oil. I'm just a fancy boy I guess.

Haha, well there goes your mechanic's bonafides! It is funny how some guys think of their Day-Date like a farmer thinks of his Carhartts. Good for them, I suppose. Everybody has to do what works best for them. For me personally, I enjoy a nice watch like I enjoy a nice dinner. If you eat filet mignon and lobster every day it's just a matter of time until it loses any wow factor and becomes random filler in your mouth.

I put a watch on when leaving the house and take it off when I get back home. The exceptions have been during the pandemic when I don't get out enough and start missing the few watches that I have.

I wear other watches too, so yeah, I could go a week or two with my Submariner off. It’s still my favorite watch. I don’t wear it nonstop, all-the-time, but it’s definitely not a safe queen either…

Also, it’s funny you mentioned G-Shock. I’m thinking about getting one of those too. Not because I want to preserve my other watches, but I really think G - Shocks are cool. Plus, they’re highly affordable, so why not? When I get one, it’ll mean less wrist time for my beloved and all-time favorite Submariner.

I don’t shower, sleep, play tennis or workout with a watch on.

I take my watches off at bedtime, if I remember, which is most of the time.

I don't shower in my watches.

I also take off my watches of during the normal rotation ritual.

How do the ladies feel about you NEVER taking it off? Lol
I understand always wearing it, but I also understand having a beater for extreme situations (like maybe moving heavy furniture (unless you do that often, then it’s not extreme for you)). I think safe queens are bad, but I don’t think you need to go to the other extreme if you don’t want to.

A $10,000+ watch is jewelry. You are free to be careless and damage your things. But if you want something meant to be abused, buy a g-shock instead, that’s a real tool watch.

Can’t speak for others, but I don’t like not feeling the weight on my wrist, so I just leave it on.

I wear all my watches but tend to baby them when I do. I work hard for my money and the things I purchase with that money I tend to take care of, like my house, cars, jewelry, etc, etc.

'Functional jewellery' is what I'd call it, but that aside I completely agree with you. I honestly don't see the point of wearing a Rolex (which, let's be honest, aren't cheap these days) in situations where you don't need to. There's just no need IMO.

As a result I wear my watches every day, I don't wrap them up in plastic covers or anything like that, and I enjoy the hell out of them..., but I don't wear them in bed, showering, doing DIY, cutting the grass, playing sport, etc. Why would I? Back in the '60's there was no such thing as a G-Shock, so at that time a Rolex was one of the toughest watches around. These days there are far better options for the rough stuff. I honestly never understand why having an expensive watch scratched to hell and looking like garbage is a badge of honour.

I don't wear my watches in the shower anymore.
10 yrs ago I took a TAG in for service that I used to always wear in the shower and the guy showed me after he pulled the bezel off that it was filled with soap scum.
Looked fine on the outside, but under the bezel was gross.
I haven't worn any watch in the shower since.

Thanks, Tim

I do the same. Rolling over to check time on the phone inevitably seems to disturb my wife or one of the dogs in bed. So easier for me to also just wear a watch. I usually put on something with good lume :)

I only take it off to shower. Watch gets cleaned along with glasses afterwards.
For some reason it bugs me wearing it in the shower.

Almost all the time I'll have a watch on except when in the shower. Lately though I take off my watch (if I remember) when washing pots and pans.

I don’t wear mine at work due to my job, but off work it never comes off, no matter what I’m doing. I don’t baby my watch, I like the scratches

Just wear it

Funny this came up. I wear mine all the time. Sometimes I probably shouldn't (working on cars, construction,etc...) But, I bought them to wear them.

I met someone this summer on the docks getting ice cream. He stopped me and commented on the Sub I was wearing at the time. I said thx. We chatted for a minute and he told me he recently picked up a SS Daytona. He said he doesn't wear it much b/c he doesn't want to scratch it. Different strokes I guess.

Having nice things sitting in a drawer, only to be seen once or twice a year doesn't make sense to me. Buy it, use it, enjoy it!

Same. I wear my GMT all the time. I did put it on a NATO when I was working with my boat at the dock but still keep it on 24/7

If I am around the house, I may or may not have a watch on. But if I leave the house I will have some watch on. It is probably a Rolex, but I have others that I rotate through. Nothing as really nice as my Rolexes, but, for example, today I am wearing my Bulova Lunar Pilot. Yesterday was my Daytona. Who knows what I will wear tomorrow???

So, not ALL the time, but quite a bit.

I rarely take mine off. A rarely would be chopping wood, engine work, some travel, which are not frequent.

Never paid even half that figure for any of mine.....have a Sub, YM, DJ and an Explorer. To me they are just £3-4k watches still.....those figures by private sellers on ebay and Chrono are just not real to me. Its like the car, I wash it, service it and try not to bump it....but I still use it all the time regardless.

Watch comes off when I walk in to my house. No need to wear it at home have a clock in every room.

Same here. I wear my 14060m everyday all day everyday. It only comes off if working on my truck and need to fit wrist in a very tight spot. Other than that it’s on my wrist. Was just digging up by hand and replacing sprinklers last week. My sub cleaned up just fine.

Buy to wear and enjoy. Plenty of scratches and marks here and there, they just remind me of the joy of wearing so much amazing piece!
