It’s unfortunate threads like this that have me stuffing everything into the room safe anytime I leave the room. Really shouldn’t be that way. I know sometimes when they clean rooms, they open a bunch of them, prop the doors open, and go in between them all for however long it takes. Might make it pretty easy for someone to slip in.

I hope they find your watch, and hold the culpable party responsible.

It sounds like this happened in the morning before you checked out? If so, why would the cleaning person be in your room anyway? Since when do hotels clean the room before you leave?
Exactly plus I even confronted her and she started cussing at me and said she didnt even need this job young 24 yo new housekeeper

This for sure. No way a person wouldn’t see another “person” going inside the room while they clean a part of the room (the restroom). Plus that other “person” has a bunch of time to go through your luggage and still not be seen by housekeeping? Doesn’t sound right

So sorry to hear this. And Hilton is supposed to be a reputable hotel. You should have worn the watch out, unless this was your second watch.

I would expect that kind of response from a perpetrator. Good luck and I hope there is some Karmic justice.

Absolutely horrendous, sorry to hear it.

For the future though, never, ever, keep a Rolex inside a luggage bag when traveling. It should be on wrist at all times. It it really must come off it should go into a safe, but certainly not for long periods as those can be broken into as well.

What a reaction!

It was a totally appropriate question!

It's a forum, we post experiences and share information. If the OP doesn't want to answer, they don't have to.

Obviously.

This was a new watch I had my watchroll on me and was wearing a watch too. I had my computer, I pad, new Gucci shoes and creed colognes that were still in the suitcase just watch and box missing.

So sorry.

I've stayed at multiple hotels during Covid. Never have had the room cleaned. Only ask for new towels to be delivered while I'm there. Surprised they cleaned before you checked out. Hope your insurance helps a bit. So many scammers out there these days.

Sounds like it involved more than one person, they knew exactly what they were going for. Otherwise those shoes would have been long gone as well.

Sorry this happened.

I agree, she had opportunity (room access) and motive (easy to conceal/steal and then sale for cash).

Sorry to hear, Danny. That really sucks. It could happen to any of us.

The fact you can look in the face of the person who probably did it makes it worse. So close, yet so far... I hope this works out. Such a shameful situation.

I hope you can salvage your holiday sir.

You think a thief rummaging through a suitcase gives a damn about cologne or shoes? No, they see Rolex and think quick cash. It absolutely sucks that this happened and I am in no way defending the thief, however it was extremely careless to leave a 10k watch in a hotel room. I don’t care if you had a watch roll on you or not. Did you not have a pocket you could drop a watch in?

Hate to hear this. Definitely a wake up call for me. Insurance plus using the safe if leaving something in the room.
