Could you consider the possibility that the hands and dial were made with different lume? Therefore they have aged differently. I have had a few Rolex's from late 80s into early 1990s with lighter hand.

I agree that the dial color or hand color could be slightly lighter or darker on some of these vintage watches. But, for me, on this particular example, the coloring is not even close between the dial and hands. Many of these watches have had their hands and/or dials replaced at some point during the past four of five decades.

I've seen so many examples from dealers and original owners where the match is not even close with a caveat that reads something like ....the hands often times do not age the same or the hands are not matching due to the possibility that the dial and hands came from different manufactures. Rarely do these mismatched sets indicate that the hands were probably changed at some point in time

I don't know where this mantra originated about different manufacturers lume not aging the same thereby creating a significant variance in color between the dial markers and hands. Personally, I believe this was concocted by dealers and/or collectors to explain away significantly mismatched dial and hand colors where the hands were changed in the past.

Much better. Enjoy it. If you can get a matching color hand set, it will look even better, unless you like it the way it is.

Unlikely - happens on Snowflakes 7016/9411 Tudors where hands are often lighter....but not this extent on on Rolex Subs. I'd not over fetishize on it though, tbh (and keep this between us) if they are tritium (that's important)....there are watchmakers out there that can colour match AND keep the UV Response same as dial !
