I’d go with the Patek - the 5235r being one of the more interesting and rarely seen Patek references, with a lovely micro rotor movement. The Patek also comes with better case design (I don’t love how with Lange every case is the same). Finally, avoiding a Richemont brand is a plus, IMHO, since I have not always had the best experiences with Richemont brands.

If the 5235 didn’t have the annual calendar, it would be a top contender for a PP to add in my book. I’m just not a fan of the apertures on the watch. YMMV. Plus, it wears long across the wrist , lug to lug. Very cool watch, nonetheless.
I vote (Grand) Lange 1. ![]()

Really great choices. I have owned both. I still own the Lange 1 if that makes any difference. Really tough choice, I really like both watches. But in the end the Lange 1 just edges it for me, based on better ergonomics (size is just perfect, 5235 is just a tad large), Lange 1 is really an icon, a watch with alot of history now, whereas the 5235 is also significant, I think Patek is yet to "perfect" the design of it if you get what i mean. Like I can see them tweaking it still.

Actually, the Lange 1 is slightly thinner than 5235. Basically both are 10mm. The Lange 1 may look thicker as it is smaller and not "all dial" like 5235.
I think I'd go Lange 1 here and I agree with Gebbeth above that its design is far from "Bauhaus" although I have read that before. |

I don't know why but the date change button at 10 on Lange just annoys me.

5235 is a very modern iteration of a Patek design. Is undervalued now.
Will win many hearts hopefully. Lange 1 is equally beautiful though. Based on personal preference, 5235 still win marginally for its features, modern forward looking design, and brilliant movement. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
