I am a big fan of the Explorer 1 but not the ongoing model. Much prefer the 36mm version.

Bought one as my first Rolex several months ago. Beautiful and fairly understated (as far as Rolex goes) watch. Ended up selling it shortly after purchasing because the polished bezel seemed to be a bit a scratch magnet, and I'm one of those irrational people who cannot stand obvious scratches on my watches. Replaced it with a Black Exp. II, which is also fantastic.

On "the list" for an Explorer II... Not the same, but a distant cousin none the less...

It’s just Rolex Oysterflex straps and some SmartyJones (Daytona) end links. It works with the stock clasp and you can even wear without the end links but I think they add a nice touch and inexpensive.

Would love to get an oysterflex for mine.

What kind of price do they go for and how easy / hard are they to fit?

Sub is my daily, however I love the Explorer and may add one to the collection in the near future. Bomb proof and really a great looking time piece that is underestimated in my opinion.

Its a nice looking watch. For me however, there are other models higher on my list, as far as acquisitions go. I'll likely get one eventually just to tie up the Rolex collection I'm amassing. You have good taste!

The explorer is one of the true classics. It will never go out of style and is very very versatile!

It's a great all-rounder that has a timeless good look to it. The watch also looks great on oysterflex/rubber straps for those who like to change it up.

Love my Explorer. The only thing that I don't like about it is how easy the polished bezel scratches.
