I would have said....Boss, you are so interesting and I was looking at the time to see how time flies when we are having fun.

Years ago when I bought my first Rolex (DJ) we were on our first staff meeting after Christmas brake and I was sitting next to my boss' boss. He is talking and sees my watch and stops, grabs my arm, and says "what is this? When did you get this?" Everyone is looking at me... "Is it a Bolex? Or a real Rolex? Gee.... We're paying you guys too much money!"

He of course had a TT sub he bought in Switzerland while on a company trip, and my immediate boss had a Day-Date. I just said mine doesn't have any gold, therefore I'm not making enough money! We had a good laugh.

Was in a meeting once with a consultant we have on staff who was walking us through another process change to a document we use in sharepoint. I had just received my 9411 snowflake and was adjusting the bezel so it aligned and she asked me if she was boring me.

I actually responded with, "I'm sorry. I wasn't paying attention. What did you say?" We laugh about it now as she realized I was joking and had in fact been paying attention.

It's OK, you'll have plenty of time to stare at your watch once you are made redundant!

You should have said: "thats one more thing your wife and i both do in a regular basis."

Ok, maybe not if you plan on keeping your job for a while ... :p

Watches are much more stealth than smartphones. People mess with their stupid phones constantly and it's much more apparent and annoying than someone looking at a watch. I'm conscious of the watch issue though and don't look at mine if I think it would be bad form.

Some interesting replies I see LOL. As for the comments about his wife good god no!!!! I work out like a fiend and probably can't bench her weight and he is pretty much one ginormous double whopper himself. Good guy by nature but let's be honest staff meetings on Monday's are a bad combo. He's the guy I w as thinking of wearing a DD in a meeting when I started a thread about that some time ago.

Oh and I totally agree with the tinkering with smartphones, blackberries, etc. that would piss me off to no end rather than someone looking at their watch.
