I thought I'd almost just completely sobered up from last night, now I find I think I am drunk once more.

Great looking watch Ken.

I think I have almost decided what I am going to do.

Thanks for helping guys.

I'm almost there.

I still have tomorro though, so I want to take a bit more time and make sure I make the right choice for me.

Thanks for asking though.

Well it was tough but I finally made my decision.

It took awhile but the 5167R was tempting and I wanted to make sure I chose correctly.

Thanks for taking the time to read my thread and attempt to further enable me, but this one just was not to be.

Oh well, at least you gave it some serious thought so it shows again how wise you are!

Needless to worry, Dan, I'm sure your RG Patek will come along, no matter what model you decide to get.

Dan, not that my opinion means squat but I think it was a pretty good call.

You are paying up huge for the 'gold option' when I think the greatest feature of the watch is the ultra light weight and reasonable cost (for PP) of the SS version. At the price point of the 5167R it starts to compete with other gold Pateks and thus becomes somewhat less of a standout in the crowd with alternatives that are very attractive.

All IMO of course but just wanted to say good job on following your gut on what is right for you...

Cheers.

Thanks

I initially inquired in regards to a 5167A. I had been looking at one of these for a good couple of months now. But they didn't have one of those, so he brought out a 5167R. There's something about RG that always kind of gets my attention at first. But I finally decided the 5167R wasn't the right thing for me.

Im not surprise by your decision. Just like me, once you got your first Nautilus, you will be tempted by another Nautilus with a different dial, function and metal!

I got the 5167R in 2010 (or was it 2009) and I have been very very pleased with it!!! I can't say enough about it and neither can anyone else who sees it on my wrist and recognizes it. A few people who DON'T recognize the watch ask me about it as well. Truly a fabulous timepiece...

Oh, I think it's gorgeous, no doubt.

However I decided to go with the 5167/1A instead.

Please post a PIC when you get a chance.

Here's a pic of the 5167R and a glass of Scotch...LOL (Glenfiddich 18 yr - goes SOOO well with a RG Aquanaut - don't you think?)

I think that you did well to go with the SS version (1a?) - I think that the metal band is very nice and gives the watch some heft that the rubber straps do not. I got mine for about $19K when I got it and it's now worth $38K brand new, so I did well (currency hedges, international shipping, etc.). A word on the value of the Aquanaut at $38K versus a complication around that price - the amount of gold in an Aquanaut is quite substantial - ergo it's comparative weight, and thus the corresponding price I believe

I was undergoing the same conundrums you were when I was looking at the watches, but since I have an AP RO Chrono with a metal band, I decided to opt for a rubber band on this one...

It was very tempting that's for sure. It's a great looking watch in Rose Gold.
