Agree with OP. I tried a new Sub on at my AD, and it did not give me the same feeling as my 16610.

I don’t think it looks as good on me, either.

Why do people need to constantly say one watch is better than the other? That 5-digit sub is hella nice, but 6-digits are nice as well.

Not only are 5 digits cool, but they wear exceptionally well - but have a major flaw (IMHO), which is the "tuna can" clasp. The edges would literally irriatate my skin (during hot/humid summer days mostly). It got to the point where I experimented with a spare clasp (93250) and modified the edges with a dremel tool - helped, but I was not going to do that to 4 clasps. Enter the 97200 glidelock clasp and it was magic - so I have glidelocks on my four 5 digits watches now. I like wearing both my 5 digits (w/glidelocks) and newer 12 series subs equally. But, to each their own

5 digits are definitely my preferred Rolex reference whether it be Sub, GMT, or DJ. Love the slimmer cases, lug holes, and aluminum bezels

Great looking watch OP. I will say that it is nice that you prefer the five digit watches. I prefer the six digit and have owned many five digit watches over the years. The six digit has everything I want from the case, bezel, movement, dial, bracelet and the glide lock clasp on some models. Personal preference is a funny thing. When I hear it, I usually know that we are not going to talk about actual data or measurable information. It is almost as bad as, "wear what you want". Enjoy your watch.

Couldn’t agree more. The elegance and charm of 5 digit Rolex cannot be match for today’s modern monsters. Clasp on my LV kermit was horrendous and took my whole wrist.

And lets be real, 5 digit can outlive us

Great watches! Great Pics!!

I like the 5-digits too. Good looking, very comfortable and just more 'right sized'.
Here are mine:

OP 15000

DJ 16238 / 16234 / 16014

And of course my Sub 16040.

The 5's are my favorite - can't beat the comfort. Thought I was done collecting with this small pile but added a couple more this year. Guess I need a new pic...

I don't really fully understand these threads. I mean, it's cute to take pride in what you own and wear, but even for five digit owners, they know that the watch is intrinsically and objectively inferior to the modern 6 digits.

The old with Less power reserve, oftentimes less resistant to shock, more prone to being magnetized, inferior clasp (yuck), inferior bracelet and make (double yuck), cheap $70 aluminum bezels (don't give me the cracks regarding ceramics please... Pros and cons comparisons are not even close).... New ones have brighter loom, better legibility, Superior Crystal etc

I guess just enjoy the charm and nostalgia but we all know the "truth"

Condescension much? Yuck

If we only enjoyed watches that we technically 'superior,' then we'd all wear smart watches...

I have to disagree.
6 digits are way over engineered and power reserve wasn't an issue with the 5 digits nor was shock resistance in any measurable way.
The 5 digits were a distillation of the essence of what was required to do the job well and then some, but they just needed the 6 digit dials and hands to top it all off.
Don't get me started on the dodgy movements which are commonly found in the 6 digits.
Sometimes less is more but what would I know. I predominantly wear a 116660 DSSD

Anyway I put it to you, that you'll do better if you stop snorting the Koolade.
