Have you considered the TT Skydweller? It looks dope with a champagne dial and will give great contrast to your Exp II. Plus it's a 42mm too.

Unless something changes with the September announcement, go with the 70 hour movement. 126603...

You’ll be sure to

SS
Stainless steel.
To me, Rolex is still a watch, not a jewel.

That's true about the HEV! I did go to the deep end of my pool one time.

I've always liked TT, but man the TT bug has hit me hard all of the sudden.
If you’re wearing it in rotation, I wouldn’t hesitate and I’d go for the SD43 ... it’s just more special feeling to me.

I’m not really a TT guy, but I have to say it’s one great looking reference

Hey Mark - I absolutely have. That watch is beyond stunning. I think it might be the most stunning watch I've ever tried on. It's just a tad flashier than my style of dress. I could definitely pull it off. I love the size, the fluted bezel, the champagne dial is beautiful. Dang it, now I have to re-think this....

I totally get that. I have the Explorer II for daily use. Fits the bill perfectly. I like a fancier watch to mix in/weekender.

Interestingly my introduction to Rolex was my grandfather always wore a gold Rolex - usually a Day/Date or a Sub. In my formative years I thought Rolex was a company that only made gold watches.

That’s interesting you mention the TT bug hitting you. Same here. I had a TT black dial GMT in the early 80s and have always missed it since trading up for a YG President back then. Anyway, I couldn’t decide for a bit between black dial and the bluesy. Since I once had the GMT master, figured to go blue this time. My news TT Bluesy, one week old today!

If you are used to the 42 and enjoy it I would go for the SD. It's the more interesting and less common of the two.

That's awesome Gary! I would have done the same as the TT yellow gold GMT is quite similiar to the TT yellow gold Sub. What are your thoughts after one week on the wrist? Is it part of a larger collection? If so, how do you see it fitting in?

That's where I'm leaning Mike. The Submariner is readily available at my AD and I'm not sure how long I'd have to wait for the Sea-Dweller. I think the smartest move is to wait on the SD. I'll know pretty quick once it's on my wrist which one I prefer.

I suspect I'll prefer the SD, but you know how it goes; you never know until you see them in person.

I have 5 Rolexes and several other brands. The Bluesy knocks my eyes out so I’ve been wearing it almost everyday. Before this watch my go to Rolex was my JC DSSD. I also have two Daytona’s. I wear the white dial Ceramic more than the YG Paul Newman but we aren’t going to many nice affairs these days which is where I usually wore these in the past. Thanks for asking!

My thoughts are borne out of bias. Some of my long time TT favorites are the Bluesy, Root Beer, and MOP Daytona. I’ve owned all of those. The YG PLN was great on a strap.

But the SD and DSSD are not candidates for TT in my mind. I know the SD has been taken that direction but - like commercial zoning in a residential neighborhood - not what I wanted to see.

I have had the chance to try on the TT SD43 twice now and I totally dig it as the TT breathes life into the SS SD43. I was not actively looking for two tone, but the gold and black on this model just works.

Bluesy is certainly more beautiful, but takes me back to the 80's, and besides, the black TT sub always seemed a little more brawn and a little less beauty. The TT SD43 takes it to a new level. It is a bold watch in a good way.

I have a subc and gmtc and love both, but with an almost 8" wrist, looking for something a little larger for short sleeve days. Explorer II polar is the other watch on my list.

I will be interested to hear what you have to say when you do get a chance to try one on, seeing as you have an Explorer II already.

I like the fact that the bezel shows more gold on the SD. Just pops a little more.

I made the mistake of going to look at the Sub at my AD today. It looked stunning. it was very hard not to walk out with it. I feel like I need to wait and get a first hand look at the SD before deciding. I honestly think either would be fantastic, but I'm feeling a slight lean towards the SD.

.....but the Sub is just sitting there waiting for me. Ugh.

Good looking watch!

The sub looks good. What size wrist do you have?

Sub looks like it fits you well. You could probably do either for your wrist size. Agree best to try both on of possible. If you bought the Sub having never tried on an SD you would always be asking yourself what if...

I think the Sub looks slightly less fussy in TT so gets my vote.

Not a fan of the looks of TT. If I were to get one, I’d step it up with a SD. Just seems a bit more special.

Of course there’s a price difference, but other than that, would you consider full gold? IMHO, Ss sub is iconic, Full Gold is epic and TT sub just lies in the middle of the road.
