So once I spend 10-15 years developing my career sufficiently to be able to buy a watch. And I’ve bought enough other stuff to qualify for a waitlist. And I’ve waited in the waitlist. I then have to keep it another 10? years.
How long do they think we all live? I might as well put my kid on the waitlist at the rate things are going. |

“So soon”… what did you think the AD would say?

i think this was more so the intent of sharing the story. that this AD did look & "care" they clearly are not blacklisting the client but felt he needs to wait a little longer before getting his next pieces.

i think its interesting and the element of what they said was interesting and clear
the client is important and long standing they were content he didnt sell it 2x 3x its retail and they shared with me for whatever reason he gets gently tapped and less likely to get his next watch as soon as he expects. just thought it was interesting and i would share as i ready many posts of people wanting to sell their watch and are unclear about ad position on it in |

He should have discussed with the AD about his need to sell the watch. The fact that he was on the waitlist for more watches is super dumb on his part. I doubt he gets that call.

Anything less than 100 years is flipping. Shame on the seller

So far as watch sales go, SAs don't get credit for taking and fulfilling orders, that's just a part of the job description. They are rewarded for actually selling things. They have tons of watches that need selling from a variety of brands. |

You're supposed to keep your Rolex watches until you pass them down to the next generation. Only they can sell, if absolutely necessary. Patek has nothing on Rolex

I’m shocked the AD said anything about the customer. It would have been more proper to not say a word, confirm nor inform anything, and certainly not update you on its current queries.

this i was surprised that he shared about 2 watches he was waiting on and their status and what he would do. yes, going into this part of the detail was strange but interesting nontheless.

One anecdote about one sales associate at one AD does not define Rolex the manufacturer or their dealer network. Sounds like the OP ran into a petty vindictive little tw@t. They are common in all industries and walks of life. It’s an interesting story about human nature, nothing more.

I buy and sell cars all the time! Drive em, sell em, like em or don’t! It’s mine to do with as I please and not all of the cars are easy to come by. But it’s my life/money and I’ll do damn well as I please. Rolex has this complex where they think they have the right to control what you do with your money and it’s absolutely ridiculous! Haven’t had a single car or watch for over 6 years! I wear em or drive em and move on.

How, How, HOW dare this AD even tell the OP what the original seller was on the list for? And that he/she was on a list in the first place??
It’s NONE of the OP’s business. If my AD treated me rhat way and i discovered it, I’d see them in court.

The Crown Giveth, and the Crown Taketh!
Utter BS, but not surprised, typical elitist AD attitude. I'm sure it would have decreased his wait time if he had offered to sell back to them instead. The AD would have offered to purchase below RRP, and he still would have had to say, "Thank you. This is so kind of you to even consider purchasing my watch back after 6 years. Your generosity, kindness, and professionalism exemplify the spirit of Hans Wilsdorf. I hope my kneepads aren't scuffing up your floor." |

I honestly struggle to believe this. An authorised Rolex dealer discloses details about their relationship with another customer, how many watches they have a register of interest in and how they judge their client and future lead time extension?
Absolute joke and in Europe it’s breaking the law under the general data protection regulations. AD sounds like a down town pawn shop! |

I find that the Rolex world in Europe is so much different to here in US. The. Biggest thing is that selling here can be 1000’s of miles away from the AD and the AD wouldn’t know anything.

I appreciate efforts to suppress flipping, but this sounds like AD behaviour that would make me uncomfortable dealing with said AD, or at least that particular AD representative…
