This thread has kept me on the edge of my seat; it's almost as good as Making a Murderer.

Weird thread. Like others, I have waited for the next chapter. Although the purists will scream, I want to go on record to say refinished dial or not... cool, good looking watch.
I think some of the best mid 50's examples show up here. Rarely will there be an "untouched" dial. During this time, I feel many original dials were destroyed by radium burns. Sixty years later, and yes all original are exciting to see, I still get excited by every example. |

Hi...
Please do not leave this thread open. There will be no follow up. I have issued a refund and by doing so Jim has agreed to post a request to remove the thread (which has done on the first page). Take down the thread ASAP. Thanks. |

Perhaps not but easy to see Mr Rottman's position here. He is a real person using his real name with a real reputation to protect. The other party, who was refunded, is unknown with just 4 forum posts operating under a forum name or "handle" and can now just disappear into the ether if he likes. I think that Mr Rottman's request is reasonable. I'm not taking sides, I just see Mr Rottman's position. Btw I do not know either party.

I was just looking up who Mr. Rottman is, and found his website. Very impressive. It's called TheWatchAdviser and was started by him a couple years ago when he was just 14 years-old Lot of nice watches.
And it appears he did get the watch back (nice breakfast! I really must figure a way to fly first class one of these days!) https://www.instagram.com/p/BA2Ou9aSv3R/ |

Bah, it must be me that I can't understand English so well but this thread is more confusing every day.
C appraises a watch owned by B A buys the watch from B <time passes> A discovers that the watch that C appraised was not as described and asks for a refund C refunds A B gets his watch back So A is even par, C bogeyed and B scored a birdie it seems to me. No? |

Rolex 6202 - is the dial refinished?
That's how it seems to me also.
Edit: and Luke's website is very impressive; wish I'd gotten into vintage watches at his age! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thank you guys for the kind comments about my website! I try my best!!!! :-)))
Correct, I got the watch back and refunded last week. Now back to what I was saying... 1. This is a legitimate appraisal. Jim asked for an appraisal from an established source. I had recommended Maron.com. 2. The refund was out of my pocket. 3. This issue has been dealt with. I would now REALLY appreciate it if you could remove this thread as requested [and agreed upon by Jim]. I have a reputation to maintain and I'm not out to burn my customers--only to share my passion (watches) with others.. I may be 16, but watch dealing is my full time job, it's my livelihood. This is how I plan to put myself through college amongst other things. And this is what I'm good at. And please, enough with the questions concerning the appraisal/refund/etc. I hate to be rude, but why so inquisitive?! This public dispute Jim and I had really shouldn't be a source of entertainment for some members here on the forum. Not story-time, guys! Thank you. On a separate note, MonBK--How dare you accuse me of issuing a phony appraisal! Your remark is absolute BS and it is beyond impertinent, to say the least. |

I always upgrade at the gate, right before takeoff! W/O upgrading, purchasing a FC ticket in advance these days is so costly. Book economy and upgrade for a few hundred. It can save you tens of thousands a year if you're a frequent flyer.
For instance...Virgin America JFK TO LAX is a 2,500 ticket in first. I book Econ. ticket far in advance then upgrade to first. I end up spending 600 total round trip. And still earn mileage points. Also by doing so ur eligible to use First Class lounges at the airports, plus other travel benefits. If you'd like anymore info on that, feel free to email me! noadvertising@yahoo.com. :) Last edited by Welshwatchman; 26 January 2016 at 02:00 AM.. |

Where exactly did you see that I accused YOU of ISSUING the appraisal? It was sent to me buy a potential buyer (who just like me) laughed when he saw it. When an appraisal says 100% original and the watch clearly has an aftermarket/refinished dial I can't help but call it a phony appraisal. |

"Robert Maron NEVER sold you [Jim] anything, ever. And Robert was never part of our deal nor did he ever own this watch!" Have I missed the clarification on this point? Edit : cross-posted at same time as fmc000 was writing his post, above H
