Never sold one yet. But thinking of it. Looking to swim upstream a bit to FP Journe or AP. If the uncertainty wasn’t so bad with Rolex wouldn’t be thinking about it. If I gotta wait blindly I might as well wait for another brand also. Not complaining, my AD is fantastic but they are family owned dealer and I think with Rolex being more prejudiced towards larger boutiques these days they only get so many pieces per year and need to share the wealth. So right now 100% Rolex except vintage Speedy and Omega 145.018.

Maybe wishful thinking on my part and it might be worse trying for other brands. But won’t know till I try.

I have three, never sold one. When I float the idea of getting a new watch with the wife she tells me if I sell one I have. Then I laugh and laugh and laugh.

I have 6 Rolex. Never sold a Rolex or any other watch that I bought. Gave one to my wife and to my son, but will never sell one.

Started the journey in 2013 and stopped collecting last year after 6 Rolexes and one Tudor.
All will be with me till I part from everything.

Got my first one in 1997 (a 1971 1500 Date), two 1601's and a 14060M followed and I still have them all :-)

Nope never sold even one of them. I spend so much time deciding on a watch purchase that I never even consider trading them off. I did consider selling my 116200 towards a used day date once but just can't stand seeing one of my watches go for a wholesale price to a gray that is charging me full retail +

I am in a small rural area and there is virtually no market to sell them locally so I just hold them. They have turned into pretty decent places to keep extra cash into over the last few years.

I think I've bought and sold well over 100 watches over the years, but I've only ever sold 3 Rolexes - a 16610 LV Sub, a 116710 BLNR and recently a 126600 SD43.

The only one I instantly regretted selling was the BLNR, so I rebought one from my AD as soon as I could. (You could still do that back then!) I'm still not sure to this day why I sold it in the first place. My current one that I've had for a few years now will never be sold.

If I'd held on to my 16610LV I could've made £20K profit on it if I sold it now, but that would've meant holding on to a watch I didn't warm to for over 15 years. No thanks! So I have no regrets there at all.

And as much as I liked the SD43, the 3235 movement issues I had with it (that needed a trip to RSC) meant I fell out of love with it, so once again, absolutely zero regrets at letting it go.

I sold my first Rolex, only to buy it back 10 days later at dealer's cost plus tax. If you wear it, dont sell it.

Just noticed this thread. I've never sold any of my watches and have been wearing my 1675 GMT ever since I bought it new in 1967.

No, they are so hard to acquire and personally I have to save up for them, why would you sell what you've always wanted. P.s. Not sure the wife agrees 😀

I haven’t sold one. Haven’t sold any of my watches and doubt I ever will. I’m quite particular and know what I want which probably helps

Never sold one, but I did give one away to my son. It was my first Rolex Daydate that I purchased in 1983 and wore daily for almost 30 years.

Up to now I have not had the need to sell any. I bought my 1016 about 40 years ago, still wear it often, I have added others, some pre owned some new, all get used as they should.

Only acquired my first one this year (2021) and have no plans to ever sell. I have already written them into my will.

I bought my first Rolex in 2012, and have since progressed to 6 pieces total now, never sold one and don't see it happening in the foreseeable future.

I have never sold or traded away any of my Rolexes, or any other watch. Some have been given to my daughter, but that doesn't count.

Great thread. I'm happy to hear you found watch nirvana

FWIW, I never buy with the intention of selling, but unfortunately some watches just don't work out. I always give them plenty of wrist time and usually a year plus of wear (often alot more) before I entertain selling.

Also, I've never sold a watch for profit or more than I paid. I did get pretty much exactly what I paid in all these cases

Never "sold" any. Traded some in, Gave some away. Same with other brands I have owned. Watches gifted to me are sentimental and there for never moved. Mine to cherish.
