I would have needed the smaller size with 6.3" wrist. AD would have ordered it.
Standard size too big by a good margin for me.

Yes of course the strap is much more than a price of rubber. I needed a smaller strap half. Took 10 days and cost $300 from AD. Free if you buy the watch new from AD of course. I flipped a 5167 for mine so mine was secondhand.

Well Jon, I just got mine yesterday from my AD. I am wearing the standard strap and also bracelet has multiple adjustments as well if needed. So for me a perfect fit and wearing the watch for a short time I have to say I am quite enjoying it!

By the way Mike I think a bracelet would completely take away for me what makes this one so special and unique. The watch is so sporty on the Oysterflex epsecially with matte dial and black cerachrome bezel. Just my thoughts and there are plenty of Rolex PM sports models available on typical bracelets bu no others quite like this though!

Congrats, Ken. How comfortable is the strap compared to the 5167 strap? Does it bend pretty easily at the lugs? Thanks.

I quite agree but for me the black ceramic bezel insert is the differentiator. In a perfect world I could buy it on bracelet and add the straps as an option.

It looks stunning on you!

Guys -

one last request - what are your thoughts/opinions/analyses/conclusions for a gift for a special occasion for daily use:

Patek 5164R vs AP Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar (steel)

THANK YOU!

Basically you have to see them in real, I found the PP to be stunning while the Rolex did nothing at all, though I kinda liked it when I saw pics of it, but in real nothing, though between the 5164 in SS and the Rolex I would probably choose the Rolex...

if you ask for the better watch, Patek hands down, is not even a contest.
if you want a cool watch more rugged, then Rolex is your answer.
I think is easier to justify the Patek in your stable, brings more to the table.
But we buy what we love, and thats at the end the deciding factor
good luck

If you try this one on I think you'll love the strap. I think it might feel better than the 5167.

Big Congrats. Great picture. I agree this watch is a truly unique Rolex - and a superb versatile competitor for wrist time in any feinschmecker watch collection.

Easily the most discussed Rolex on the Patek forum, always seems to be in the mix versus Aquanauts. Similar price points and features I guess.

Isn't the Rolex around $25 and the 5167 around $18k? Certainly in the UK it was £16600 for the 116655 and £12400 for the 5167A which is quite a difference.

Lamshanks, it is a hard question to answer. It depends on what the person does on a daily basis. If the person does not work, then both can be nice options (or can be an overkill). If the person is working in the office in a more conservative job, the royal oak may be appropriate. If the person works in a more trendy environment, the 5164R may be nice. But these are "non entry level" pieces for daily wear. What a lucky person receiving the gift no matter which you choose. I love both! (Sorry, my views may be subjective, but that is how I see it from my own background).
