Regardless what you do, those trade numbers don’t add up.
. It’s going to be $6k at best case scenario added with a BLRO for a Daytona trade. Getting past the numbers, I would do the trade asap.

I'd prefer to wear a modern Daytona rather than a modern gmt as a daily, so yes.

I never really clicked with the 6 digit GMT's. The bezel appears overly bulbous and I never understood the difference in proportion between the GMT triangle at 12 and the 12 o'clock marker. The 5 digits were perfectly in proportion and balanced.

I suspect the next GMT update with thinner lugs / case, might capture my interest because if you like it, it's a very very good 1 watch daily.

No doubt, but like others have said, no way those figures are correct.

I really like the modern GMT on jubilee, but the colors of the BLRO are a disappointment for me to say the least. Still a great watch at retail, but 20k +…….no way

Agreed, but a Daytona at 30k+ is a no way either.

I've owned Black/White Daytona and I love them don't get me wrong it's a statement piece, but I lost interest after seeing a group of Twenty-somethings wearing Pandas (99.9% chance fake ones). If people think the Pepsi is over hyped, I hope they don't own a Daytona because that is the hype.

The GMT has actual useful complications.

Correct ! Numerous time-zones and a compass …

BLRO is more versatile and you can't get bored with it. Black Daytona is "deadly" boring.

You have to look at it in the proper context as it’s really Apples and oranges between the GMT and Daytona.

The difference is the ss Daytona was always THE special one treated differently by Rolex since its introduction. It was THE one that predates even the internet and all the hype that recently became fashionable. That gives it a unique historical edge with its genuine superstar status. The watch no one could see in the case when every other model was sitting in the case selling at a discount. It set a Rolex precedent no other model really comes close and its 4130 movement inside backs up that status even further. I do get where you are coming from and could argue my GMT being simpler, is a better daily Rolex as a one watch owner.

I currently have both. I would not do that trade. Pepsi on jubilee is much better as a daily than the daytona: GMT has a date, GMT has multiple timezones, jubilee bracelet hides scratches better than polished center links on the daytona's oyster bracelet, and GMT has a bit of color (personality).

I wouldnt sell my daytona though... I love mine. But I would never sell my BLRO for the daytona.

Moneywise it sounds like a good deal but…I have both of those watches and yes they are very different. I wear both regularly but the BLRO more. I would keep it and start working on adding the Daytona.

Where did you see them at? This sounds like my nightmare since I have a genuine panda 116500

I’ve never seen 20 YO sporting a Panda … couldn’t care less if I did good luck to them, plus if you wear a fake that’s up to them, I certainly wouldn’t ..

It was in Austin at a hotel bar! Two white Pandas and a Black dial, 3 total at a table in the middle of the bar. I’d say they were mid-20s. It hit me hard haha. At least they have good taste in watches!

So, an update, the trade was with a friend, and I did the trade. I figured it would be an easy deal to rewind in the future if I didn't bond with the black Daytona but I can tell you I like it a lot so far. For $2k I felt the trade was very fair if not slightly in my favor looking at retail prices.

In terms of value, I think this is a good deal. In secondary market, the difference between BLRO and 116500 black dial is more than 2k. So if I wanted this daytona, I would have done this deal.

Prefer the Daytona and especially the ceramic with black dial and agree the price is in your favor.

That said..

That was one of four Daytona I’ve owned , while they look and fit great, unfortunately they are illegible and illogical.

If you wear a watch and prefer to use your phone for the time, then make the deal.

That's just such a shame for a watch to not be legible to that degree. That would be a none-starter for me.

Have both. For a daily, the black dial 116500 can’t be beat.

Assuming the trade is as described - ALL - DAY - LONG.

Almost the inverse of Harry, while I don't not like the BLRO, I fail to understand why others like it "so" much. I am neutral/slightly negative on the bezel color scheme.

I have also been a fan of the Daytona since the Zenith movement days, so I am biased.

I just did that exchange this month.

I purchased a 126710BLNR on Jubilee. It was dead to me. Very hard to read - the GMT wears small and proud on the wrist, hated the Jubilee. Traded it in for a Black dial 116500LN. I would say the Daytona to be more legible than the GMT. To me, the GMT hand just disappears. The Daytona also in my opinion wears better and for some reason bigger than the GMT. The GMT seemed to sit up on my wrist where the Daytona sits on and around me wrist. The Daytona is much better.
