Shiny, you obviously know a lot about nothing!
Why don't you go and buy a diamond encrusted datejust.
Panerai have been around a long time and they haven't sold out to "bling".
Why don't you just get a life Shiny, you know nothing know all!
You must be some self proclaimed guru who doesn't have a friggin clue Panerai enthusiasts do have a little bit of knowledge more than an an idiot like you.

Cori, you need to chill out. NO need to throw names for someone stating their opinions.

Panerais are a big fad right now in Asia. Too big for most in my opinion. Panerais have actually been availiable to the public for a little over only 10 years. Before that they were primarly made for military divers who needed a large watch as was strapped to the outside of their dive suits or cold weather gear.

Well, it appears that I have struck a nerve. Perhaps you are one of the followers who made a bad investment decision? Personally, I would choose a Rolex Datejust over a Panerai without hesitation. Rolex has a legacy and popularity that is simply unmatched. Go anywhere in the civilized world and inquire with any ten people as to what a Rolex is. Ninety percent, at least, will know it is a fine wristwatch. Make the very same inquiry to the same group as to what a Panerai is and twenty percent, at best, will have any idea of what it is at all.

I see this is going nowhere, cori. You are an adult, correct? Please, don't allow the simple truth to bring you to such hostilities. Panerai is simply not Rolex, nor are they in the same league, in any way.

Going back to my previous analogy. Present a Rolex Datejust, Day Date, Submariner date, and so on, to ten people who have never heard of Rolex. Next, present a Panerai to those very same people, who have never heard of Panerai either. Ask which timepiece looks to be of great value and which looks like nothing more than a large, bulky watch. I'm sure you'll agree that Rolex would be the unanimous decision as the luxury timepiece of great value.

Cori, If you can not figure out why your post got moderated, then take another look at it. From your last post and comments, I would think you are pretty close to getting banned.

Though I think PAMs are overpriced, they do make some really nice models. The Radiomirs with the see though backs are beautiful watches. Some of the older models even had JLC movments. I actually regret passing up on a 42mm Radiomir GMT last month, but it was over $7000 and just alittle too high price. If it would have been $5000, it would be on my wrist right now. I think one thing that does appeal to Pan owners is how easy you can cahnge straps and that leads into a whole nother ball game of collecting which is enjoyable for the owners!

Good for you for knowing what you would choose, nothing wrong with that. But to make the ASSumptions that you make about Panerai is way off base. Do you know anything about the brand other than the look?

And FWIW, the reason you describe about the fact that many people know Rolex is another reason why I don't wear them hardly at all anymore.

Your opinion is welcome here, but don't be offended when ignorant statements are refuted. And your statement was very nothing short of ignorant.

Some people need a name brand to compensate for other things though.

Regards,
Again you get flagged for pure ignorance. The Panerai secondary market holds better than any other brand, the mighty coronet included. The proof is on the sales corners and trust me I spend plenty of time there.

Not sure how many people really buy watches for investment purposes anyway.
To many they are luxury items.
Wonder who bought all those plasma TV's when they first came out, at around $20,000 for a 42" set.
It all depends on the person and what they are looking for at that point.
Now, let me get back to my Commodore 64.

I agree bro, I actually wish they would go out of style so I could land a 21 or 203 for less than 80% over list.

Three words of advice if I may. 1. He is entitled to his own thoughts as long as he is not bashing a person on this forum. 2. Calm down before your tone, before you find yourself at the door. 3. The mods of this site don't need your guidance in running the board. That is why we get the huge paycheck every two weeks.

As expected, another boorish response. I find myself quite happy in believing that you do not own a Rolex. The prestige associated with such a fine brand would be simply be wasted on the likes of you, sir.

I concur, partially, but I do believe this topic was discussing timepieces, not televisions. No?

hmm from what I've seen most Panerai owners simultaneously own Rolex watches at the same time, they also favour AP and IWC amongst other brands

I think a true WIS has the ability to appreciate all kinds of watches for what they are... in fact the attitude displayed in this thread by a certain person is very narrow minded and elitist.. I'd also say not the attitude expressed by most members of this forum....

If someone reads something they dont like, why cant they just move along and keep their negative comments to themselves

oh look a new one how cute!!!
and this one too!!!

I LOVE PANERAI - YEH BABY

I guess I'm pretty normal for "most Panerai owners" then....got plenty of Rolex and just bought an IWC Aquatimer a couple of weeks ago. Glad to know I'm "normal"....now just explain that to my wife.

I have heard a lot of Panerai owners end up selling. Anyone here sell theirs and not gone back?

If so why?

No plans to sell here. It's a too unique piece in the collection.

wow what a post, i have owned plenty of rolex and about 4 panerai's. i ind myself sticking with panerai because of the variety. in he rolex line, if you have a sub then you get the gmt...it almost feels like the same watch (ofcourse the gmt II feels smaller). not knocking on rolex, but it would be nice for them to diversify thier lines, making each watch feel different. for example: if you wear a pam 88, then a 104....its a complete different feel even though they are both in luminor cases.

Panerai is really growing on me. They are beautiful. I'm such a Rolex Geek though I don't know if I could ever own or wear anything other than a Rolex.
