I also don't think the blue dial is too dark either. As with most AP blue elements its more a 'royal' blue, and being so in dull light will look black, but in decent light its very dramatic. Personally I think its the perfect shade of blue to go with RG, and a lighter shade would appear too blue in bright light.

So I got a hold of this picture and the two (dials atleast) do seem different enough to be in the same collection.

Also - does the grey seem muted due to lighting? (Other pics here are very flattering while this one isn't).
