I'm from NY, but live overseas now. So hotel for me is parents place. Could never fathom paying some of these nyc hotel prices these days. Could buy a nice watch.

I'd stay at a boutique hotel The Standard, Langham Place, The Surrey.

My wife and I stayed at The Refinery twice this year. Fantastic small hotel. 38th between 5th and 6th.

Number one rated rooftop bar in NYC.

Nice rooms, great service, and very reasonable.

NY Hotel Ideas

Thanks everyone for your time and great input.
I ended up grabbing a suite @ Trump by Central Park. Price was right and reservation made.

A big thanks to G8RDPM for his help and PM's he sent and replied to mine.

Now I start stressing about where to make dinner reservations lol

Either the Mandarin or the Pierre. The Pierre has possibly the best service of any hotel I've ever stayed at.

I live in Manhattan and $1000 seems to high. Try searching on kayak.com. Times Square is an easy walk to Central Park.

Steaks are amazing as well. Some of the best in the city even though not technically a steak place. Great cocktails and wine list. Tough prime time reservation though without access to their "other" reservation number.
