I can understand your thoughts, but you see from my photos that the dial shows a different shade depending upon the light.

Could the OP lets us know from what year his beauty was produced?

And congratulations by the way.:thumbs up

Your watch is almost twin to mine. beautiful!! My serial# is 818xxx,3-62 ,1530 movement. The dial and hands are appeared to be original. As you said the lighting makes different shades to the dial. Thank you.

Hi r14, thats quite amazing, I have only just realised that my 5512 with 1530 movement also has the serial # 818xxx (fourth digit 6) as well as the date 3-62 on the inside back cover !!, so they quite possibly left the factory in the same week I think our dials are pretty close too although my watch has obviously had a far harder life, the guy it came from was a professional clam diver so probably had high exposure to the intense sun we get out here. I have added a couple of photos to show how the different light in each shot does affect the final colour, just as the camera took them, no enhancing etc.

That is amazing. Our watches are twins, And this verifies what were the original specs when they left the factory . Your dial is beautiful, hardly no damage from drivings. The bezel insert has quite battle scars from clam shells, yet it shows the history. And its easy to replace bezel insert if you can find a older ones.
Thank you very much for sharing. Aloha.

For those that were interested, our two 5512's are just 220 digits apart, mine being the younger :-)

Phil, that is a cracking looking 5512, I really like to see when a vintage piece has lived up to it's calling :) Personally I wouldn't change a thing.

r14 to answer your question the serial number on mine starts 693*** and comes from the first quarter of 1961 :)

Regards

Tony
