In Dallas, one of the malls has a Tourneau, a Bachendorff and a Bailey Banks and Biddle literally feet from eachother.
Tourneau has almost everything, Bachendorff has ALMOST everything (including 6 digits priced watches) and BBB has quite a lot of stuff too.

There are two types of malls - high end malls and low end malls. The high end malls would at least have Omegas and /or Breitlings.

The low end malls would have the other typical watches (no disrespect) ie. quartz watches from Japanese and Swiss makers.

Breitling or Omega...

Really, tough call. Personally there are only a couple of Breitlings that I dont think are too busy for me..

The Seawolf, the Colt or the Steelfish come to mind.

All the chronos are too hard to read, so for a Chrono, I would go with the Omega in a heartbeat.. A Seamaster is waterproof too...can't beat that.

And there is no way Breitling will be a mall watch in 5 years. They have way to much history and tradition behind them, and they make a fantastic watch.
I have owned two of them and I was BEYOND impressed with everything that had to do with them. From fit, finish, accuracy, attention to detail, customer care after the sale.

+1 (breitling gets my vote though it's a lonely one)

OMEGA is shifting towards completely manufacture status, while Breitling seems to be going the other way.

For my personal tastes, OMEGA

I don't have a Breitling yet, but will. I have 3 Omegas. One gold mechanical dress watch (unk model), one SS bumper auto, and a Speedy Pro MK II. I will soon have a vintage pre moon in the stable also. They're all beautiful in their own way. I kinda like the Seawolf Avenger chrono. Think I may wait for a pre loved one. Both are top notch watches. Knida like Jag vs Mercedes. Be glad that we have the choices that we do.

Omega over Breitling
O uses solid gold in their materials, B uses plated gold on some of their models
O has a greater legnd behindd their name as well.

really? what do they plate? my guess would be crowns like rolex does. they don't do gold through the clasps and their bracelets have solid 18k gold links and also joining into the end link. bezels and chrono pushers are solid gold.

rolex plates the gold crowns and gold through the clasps. the older tt sub's, gmt master's and date just's had the gold on the hollow end links plated also. i am sure omega uses the same type of manufacturing processes, especially at their price point.

as far as history behind their name there is no watch that has a greater aviation history than breitling.

here is a good example of an rolex gold crown.

The old saying is that great cases make great watches, and Breitling makes really great cases. But you have to like a big, chunky watch.

I know water resistance does not matter much, but even the dressy Breitlings are 300M, basic divers are 500M all the way to 3000M for the Avenger Seawolf.

What's a mall watch?

I'm in the UK and in the nearest shopping mall here I can buy a Rolex or an Omega but not a Breitling!

For me I like Omegas over Breitlings but i do have one of each.

in tulsa okla the only place i can buy a breitling is in a jewelry store not in a mall. just about everything else we have available here is in a mall. i bought my gmt2c in woodland hills mall at reed's jeweler's.

they both make nice watches, i really like the omega planet ocean but i don't care for omega's chrono models very much. on the other hand i really like a lot of breitling's chrono models but don't care for the steel fish super ocean at all.

Breitlings are too bling for me. They have great watches though, I just can't get myself to buy them, I very much prefer Omegas. Heck I even prefer most Omega over Rolex.

I own a couple of Omegas and a couple of Breitlings, it is clearly a personal preference. My newest is a Breitling colt with the quartz movement and it has maintained 1 second accuracy for the last 6 months, very pleased with it

I love my Breitling. I looked at a few Omega's and they did nothing for me. I am acutally wearing my Breitling today. It was hard to rip the Deepsea off my wrist. haha

Both are fantastic watches, so as normal it would be a win win. For me personally it would be Omega but try both and see what you feel in the end and make your choice

like tossing a coin you can't go wrong either way... just a matter of your taste and wrist size as most breitling models are huge and heavy

I'd like to have a Speedy Pro or a Navitimer. First choice would have to be a Speedy Pro.

My choice will be Omega (owning both Omega and Breitling). I generally find Omega to be better value and better looking time pieces.

I'm an Omega owner and find most Breitlings a little too busy for me although I quite like the SuperOcean Heritage model. The sizes are a problem though, 38mm is a tad small and 46mm is WAY too big for me.

The limited edition they are releasing is pretty handsome. Too bad its 46mm.

I think the quality and fit/finish of the two brands are equal. I happen to prefer the designs of Omega.
