I struggle a bit when people say the SubDate isn't a classic. I mean, Subs have had a date option for nearly 50 years.

I was a kid in the 80s, so the first Bond I saw in a theater had a date complication.

I've previously owned 3 x variations on the Submariner Date, and also a purchased new late production 14060M (which I stupidly flipped a while ago). At present my only Sub is a 114060. So have covered most of the non-vintage Submariner bases at some stage.

I really like the dateless dial symmetry more for sure. Also, it's a bit quick quicker to fire up and set a dateless watch if it's not a daily wearer. This works for me in my current rotation. YMMV of course.

As others have said, the clean balanced symmetry of the 114060 makes it the easy choice for me.

I struggled with the same question until I finally settled on the ND. Three reason's really. The perfect symmetry, the ultimate access to today's date from your phone and just look at the bottom right of your computer screen and finally...one less thing to mess around with setting wise.

I do own a 114060 and it's a great beater but if it would be my only Rolex I would go for 116610. I get the symmetry aspect some like but the date bubble is also very iconic.

My sub of choice is a 14060m 2 line, classic yet modern, clean look, drilled lugs, last of its kind

Not a easy decision. ..but as a person whom is not shy of a bit of attention...I want people to know I've got a rolex on...is the 116610 seen as more noticeable as a rolex???

I would say they are pretty much on pair when it comes to recognition. A sub is a sub

Of course, one could just look at the TIME on a computer screen, too. It's about convenience. May I suggest the Sub NT, which has even better symmetry than the Sub ND?

I think of the Submariner as a tool watch, first and foremost, so I'm ok with a little asymmetry in the name of function.

Some will claim the Sub flies under the radar far more than the sub date. I don't believe this is true, especially if we're talking about the latest versions. Both have a wrist presence and shine (due to bezel insert) that is difficult not to notice by others. Of course, only WIS types like us could appreciate the differences from afar. But, in my experience with Subs, one version did not get noticed or commented on any less than the other. That being said, few people actually ever comment/compliment whatever piece I am wearing.

I personally prefer the clean symmetry of the sub over the sub date. Also you don't have to worry about setting the date as you rotate your watches. But it is a personal choice and you can't really go wrong with either. They are both spectacular timepieces.

ND....ND.....ND oh and non Date.
Its just so clean and striking.
You can always set the bezel pearl to the date minute if you really forget it/use it that often.

Date for me. I like the functionality of having the date (I refer to it a lot). I only have one watch without the date complication, and it's a Seamaster 300.

If it's your only watch, I'd opt for date version. If not, the Submariner dial is much cleaner looking to my eye.
