Turn it another way maybe the guy was testing you Faith - see if you would gloss over those issues, test if you're desperate to have a date.

Either way I don't see how you can get a balanced, healthy relationship with this guy. Dump him and cut your dinner loss.

Now that you mention it . . . he killed two people in Butte, Montana then left them for dead.

You reckon that's where he got the Seiko?

He should choose better victims...

I must use logic and prudent judgment in the decision-making process regarding whether to date this man again. So I'll put this out there . . . who has a Ouija Board I can borrow?

Inexcusable on every count. Embarrassing to any true gentleman.

He either doesn't have two brain cells to rub together or is a scammer. Nervousness is not a viable reason for any of this in my opinion. Either way the boy is gone if it were me.

Run!

When I go out with someone I really like, I put my best foot forward (advanced planning on the restaurant, nice clothes, clean LV, bring wallet). Needless to say, gentlemanly behavior is an absolute must. Forgetting the wallet and the lack of chivalry are red flags in my book, but I guess not everyone is the same.

If you liked the conversation, and can look past the seiko, I'd give it another shot.

Like others said, forgetting a wallet can happen and it is embarrassing however it sounds cheesy to say that you have to let him take you out again because he owes you money. While it may have been his way of making light of the situation, it can seem like a cheap ploy to get a free dinner and a second date.

If it were me that forgot my wallet, I would have a) insisted to pay you back upon leaving the restaurant or b) called someone to get my wallet of drop off cash.

I have my own story about forgetting my wallet. I was taking out my wife (then girlfriend) to Alain Ducasse. We arrive and when I was checking our coats, thats when I noticed I forgot my wallet. I was temporarily living in NJ at the time so I couldn't drive back to get it without ruining the entire evening and my girlfriend had a small purse that could hold makeup, ID and a cell phone but no wallet. I told the maitre' d and he said that he could charge the dinner to the credit card I gave when making the reservation. I was so relieved!

Faith,

Drop him, if he can not remember his wallet and he can't open doors.....well, enough said. It isn't like the guy is a teenager! You wouldn't be happy with someone so disorganized (at best) or cheap (at worst).

Plus you obviously did not "feel good" about the date. That is a big red flag!

I really wish Rudy had a brother, I could hook you up with!

Maybe he didn't really forget his wallet or to hold open the car door. Perhaps he didn't much enjoy the date either.

If a person doesn't enjoy a date, they should just not make another date. To not pay for the food and not open doors for a lady, just shows a lack of class.

If you do not like your date, you should simply not book another date. You should not be rude and disrespect your date.

I went on a first date once and forgot my wallet. I was also so flustered that I dropped my drink and ... it was an awkward night to say the least. But she did go out with me again and we dated very happily for 4 years and now, 14 years after we broke up, are still friends.

The wallet - Is unforgivable IMHO, a man never show up without it.

The door - Is ok to forget, it depends on the situation. I will never run to the door to be first at it.

The solution - If the first date was okey except those two things so have I give the guy a second chance. But leave
your wallet at home this time and see what happends.

Good luck, whatever you decide.

Point 1) NOBODY forgets their wallet on a first date.

Point 2) See Point 1.

Door opening is simple good breeding - for that you can blame his mother.

Point 3) Don't date the Mother either.

If I were single, Taffi, and good looking enough to dare to ask, I would ask you out in a minute.

And pay.

And hold your chair.

And open every door.

And listen.

Keep looking hun...he's out there!

Kia ora Faith,

Since Kaya was the only female voice, I asked my wife her thoughts and after reading through your story and the other posts she said,

DUMP HIM!

If I am anything I am civilized. You deserve better. If he "forgot" his wallet intentionally to encourage a second date, that is even more pathetic. (and certainly possible/probable?)
To the curb with that guy.
Sound advice. I think he probably did it on purpose. While I often forget my cell phone, I have yet to forget my wallet.

I'll forgive the Seiko, but the wallet and door thing are definitely deserving of a salami beating

I know, that's what I thought too I have to admit though, I was intrigued by the title
